I am sitting here eating tomorrow's lunch
I made this food, for tonight and tomorrow... it was so good I've loaded up with huge 2nds.... so there's no lunch for tomorrow (again).
I always do that... why does food taste so darned good? Downside of lobbing stuff in from scratch....0 -

It does at least explain why so few older church records are on Ancestry (or on any other site for that matter)
Have only just started skimming that but th believe we do have a choice over this. So they can offer me something I don't believe in posthumously and if I am wrong and they are right I get their second chance...or not.
Seems quite kind, a these things go.0 -

There is a theory we find it hard to be satiated if we are nutritionally deficient. I don't know if I buy it, but it would make sense.0 -

Latin's definitely a POSH ALERT. One bloke annoyed me as he said "employers like to see Latin" - which really means "employers like people from posh schools".
Does that definition include the Catholic church? Latin is still a biggie with them in some quarters0 -

Dh did his Latin and ancient Greek at state school, just not in this country. I am pretty sure some grammar schools used to offer it. Some independents do not, ands it's not mandatory at some 'posh schools'.
I think I have those Latin books somewhere, one or two of them anyway, you could learn yourself if you wanted.0 -
Has anyone been following the series on BBC4 about great albums, and the rise of the LP?
Great stuff, in my view, but then I'm a sucker for the large black frisbees
Over the years I have always continued to buy vinyl. People would often deride my choice, highlighting technical benefits of first CD and then MP3s etc.
Trying to apply rational argument to an irrational hobby was never going to fly0 -
I never learnt a word of latin, forced learning of welsh in school until the age of 13/14. Taught by teachers who spoke welsh as their first language and seemed to consistently devote 80% of their teaching to the 10% of the class who spoke welsh at home. Put me off languages.
Did you learn Hebrew? It makes me a bit cross with dh that he forgot the little he learned (had to for bar mitzvah, do some).
I really like how both Hebrew and Arabic look written.0 -

When I visited New Orleans in the 80s I was surprised how much CDs had taken over from vinyl and I realised we'd be next to lose them.:oThere is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -
We have records but we still don't have a record player set up since before summer. Not sure where to set it up. I think the study as people won't be tempted to leap about in there and dh can listen to records when working as a spoon full of sugar to the work.0

It seems that high summer is coming to an end. The temperature hasn't been above 25C all week and the mornings are definitely getting darker. I even had to use a duvet (or doona as they say here, mysteriously) last night. We'll have another 6-8 weeks of normal summer before autumn kicks in around April. Then I'm in England for 3 weeks so I'll miss about half the winter!0
