Just had my debit card refused in Lidl... the embarrassment! Must be their machine... [a] I knew I had loads/enough in the bank I just checked and I was right. Still embarrassing as everybody's going to say "Oh that's strange, there's money in there" aren't they0

If I'm down your way, I'll buy you a coffee, not that I'm 100% aware of where you actually are

I am not a coffee person.... more a: hot chocolate, with whipped cream, marshmallows and a flake person.
I'm way down on the south coast.... nowhere near Herts where posh people live0 -
I think these discussions about luck often forget to go far enough back.
Quite often you hear people say "I took the first temp job I could get when I left.... and was sacked... and then got another...." what they forgot to mention was they were educated at Eton, have future PMs in their address book and their parents throw parties full of influential people 3x a year... so it wasn't long before, at one such soiree, they were hooked up some some important guy somewhere that gave them their next break....0 -

****** ******* ******* ******* ****** self-assessment returns!!!!!
All completed, and tax paid, but my day's work has gone, and I've fallen off the wagon with my first alcoholic drink in nearly two weeks. If somebody could come up with a country with no tax returns, I think I would emigrate now, wouldn't pass go, and would happily ditch the £200.No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
Just get a job which pays less, give away your investments or stop running a business. No tax return needed. Job done!
I did my tax return in about 4 minutes. OH spent at least an hour on it and almost cried twice. I can never understand what's so difficult about them. I spent 3 months working in personal tax once and I found it mind boggling that anyone would pay anyone else substantial sums to do something as easy as writing numbers in boxes.0 -

Awww... as you find then so straightforward, you could have helped her/ done it for her!
Perhaps she could repay you by checking your pockets before putting the washing on0 -
I don't earn enough to do my own tax returns0

Grrrr! You sound like OH, but then its me he expects to file all the papers he may need so he can do his tax return!
And his last text before he switched his phone off on the plane was to say I need to check whether he needs to pay some tax by the 31st and if so, please pay it.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards.
