Starving. Got a loaf of bread and 18 eggs, but really CBA to stand up long enough to make scrambled eggs on toast. Going to have to .... felt this way yesterday so all I ate yesterday was handfuls of left-over Roses chocs and 6 packets of crisps.

Aww, thanks PN. I'm sure it's when it all changed (is it 2007?) and made all the office products more user friendly that it all went wrong for me! Even when I knew ow to use it I thought Access was useless. I used to use Goldmine and loved it. (how much does that cost these days? waddles off to induce a heart attack...)

That's when it went wrong for me too. They changed the layouts of everything. and they moved the shortcut buttons..

I had a bad night. :(. First there was the fall which damaged macputer, (caused by 'losing' the right leg which has been happening a bit this week but not usually when I am quite so unaware) and then had a migraine over night.

I am hating the house ATM (leaking roof in old part, something that nice builder put right in new part needs him to come back :(. Plus the new loo is blocking.....not sure why when nothing else is, other wise I would put it down to the rain, but I'll check the klargester today anyway).

The migraine and the weather kept me awake. I am super bored of this never ending autumnal weather. It seems to have lasted over a year now, with just the occasional break for sun or frost. Unlike gdb I LOVE winter, but I l
I've crisp hard, frozen days of clean cold, where there is no mud and slush for me to trek through. Only had two of those, and that seems as unfair as not having a proper summer.

Having looked up what a Klargester is, you may want to restrict the fascinating dinner table conversation to just the central heating system .....

I agree with you that crisp clear winter days can be lovely. There's far too much of the slushy-mushy at the moment.

I really, really hope the migraine gets better, LIR.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

    Welcome sparrer.

So when not sheltering under muchrooms, would you eat one?

And Yorkshire puddings? With beef, or with anything? Or ( lir shudders) instead of a plate with your food in it?

Yes would and do eat them, and Yorkies with a lot of things (plain and syrup, yum), but a definite no to food in one, imagine the mushy mess it would make

    Welcome Sparrer.

Could you clarify whether you live in Hertfordshire, itself, or in one of the neighbouring counties, known as Greater Hertfordshire. Greater Herts has grown somewhat over the years, and it now includes Sydney, NSW. Greater Herts has its own opera house:

The clue is under my avatar....:)

Another in the slept badly felling miserable club - a lot of night time coughers in the house at the moment although luckily not me.

Still it is good to have PN back from her travels safely (I know know I am on a promise PN but life has been so hectic plus I knew you were away).

Does anyone else feel cheated over the length of the xmas break - when it started it seemed like ages but with the first 3 days spent rushing round madly getting ready, the next 2 spent doing and the one after spent clearing up it somehow turned in to a 3 day break and yesterday I fitted in a trip to the dentist that was about a year overdue so now it is just a normal weekend (with the normal weekend chores to do) and back to work on Monday with a lot to do in January and no relief in sight :(

GDB I will email you details of my builder, they are not brilliant (unless you are their only job or are looking for a new roof) but they will give you a reasonable quote which may be useful for negotiation and would offer me a 5% introduction fee which I would pass straight back to you as a NP.
    I think....

Hello and welcome :) Some of us not residing in Hertfordshire reside not so far from Coventry. Either is fine with us ;) We don't do a great deal of talking about house prices in this thread, but shhhh, don't tell anyone!

    Do you like kebab?

Coventry is good, had a house quite near there for a while. Had a kebab in Greece which was good, not had one in UK though. Should I risk it

Hello and welcome sparrer. Standing under mushrooms rather than eating the disgusting things is a great start.

Is there a story behind the username?

Just that I was born in London and am not very big, hence Cockney sparrer, and they're becoming extinct, like me!

Earlier this year I took part in the RSPB’s Cockney Sparrow count. The survey showed that the decline in sparrows in central London continues, but the population in the outskirts is holding up better, East more so than West. Fortunately my nest is a feathers drift from the RSPB HQ so it's my sanctuary when I want to escape from the rat race :)
