You should email back and ask them their expectation of your expectation ?
It is annoying. It might be appropriate within a tight career-path where you've been moving along.... but when you take "any job I can do/that's offered" in "whatever area I happen to be living in", then it becomes irrelevant.

The job's not even "important", it's quite low level/just admin, not even 'assistant manager' (which really means underpaid gofor).... they should be telling ME what the salary range is so I know whether it's worth applying :)

I've no idea what it's "worth", probably NMW*1.25, so I've gone in at a price that's 1.5-1.75*NMW.... although without any clue as to the working hours even that's tricky to know what's what. There's a world of difference between 35 hours/week and 42.

Anyway, I went in low, without completely taking the mickey ..... as I need "something".

Needless to say, my full-time rate would be equivalent to one of the NP's dropping an hour a week no doubt :)

Even if you don't get the job, all the hoops they are making you jump through will keep you fit !!

    PN.

You should have taken a tip from the banks, and told them that "they are lucky; because right now you have an *introductory rate*".

Of course, at the first review point, when they realise they need you, the introductory rate ceases to operate :D

.... hey ... don't forget I have an advanced skill of c0cking up interviews :)

Also ... they don't know how old I am; something that you can't hide in interview. Depends if they see me as intelligent/worthy, or a middle aged woman who should be joining the WI rather than looking for work :)

I am still googling and thinking of business names. Has to be catchy, short, domain available, ebay available, twitter available, facebook available. Preferably starting with "A" rather than "Z". But, being a late comer to the industry "all the good names have gone". On the other hand, I'm not entirely sure yet what I am offering/doing....

    Able.co.uk
Ardee.co.uk (I made that word up)
    Armpytt.co.uk

If someone can make a brand out of moonpig, then the collective wisdom of NP should come up with something workable.

Hi Sue. Just wanted to say that we all know that sometimes life deals you an unfair hand and that there's hardly a person around here who doesn't know that what's happened in your life - the arrival of three gorgeous guys excepted - is not how you would have planned it.

It's probably fair to say that we also know that people who are in receipt of benefits are under the microscope at the moment. Underneath this I think there is a notion of deserving and undeserving benefits recipients that is somewhat difficult to deal with. Personally I don't like the division, but make no mistake, if the division is made, nobody, but nobody, could look at your situation and see you as undeserving.

When people are challenged, they inevitably back down a bit saying (like horsey) something along the lines of "oh well, I don't mean really disabled people"

I think what I'm trying to say is don't take it personally. Unfortunately in the current society divide and rule is being fostered - make no mistake by all political parties - who vilify either bankers, or people on benefits, or public sector workers, or immigrants, or whoever. I'd love to be able to say it is going to get better and people aren't going to say these things but they are and it won't. But please, please, please, realise that it isn't focused at you and that pretty much everyone here and on the adjacent boards know what a difficult situation you have to deal with on a daily basis.

    Thanks Viva

I think the thread got to me because there were views there that dismayed me...plus I don't think it helped reading it after yet another cardiac episode for James yesterday evening (3rd one in less than a week), to say I was a little 'sensitive' would be an understatement.

I was more on form this morning thankfully, so didn't take it to heart so much but I may possibly have more wobbly moments, my stress levels are through the roof.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.
