I stumbled across this years ago . There used to be a craze for "cleansing diets" back when everybody (well subsections of the public) thought all health problems were due to food allergies or additives. These were the foods least likely to cause allergic responses in humans and I believe I read claims they never occured at all.
I certainly never encountered anyone that had one that wasn't confusing it with food intolerances which were usually malabsorption problems rather than allergies.
A pub just off Bow Lane in The City used to sell retox wine in January. There was also a peculiar kind of mental illness you used to hear about where people thought they were "allergic to the 20th century" (ie all synthetic and modern materials).
ISTR that you used to get these reported in The Guardian with great earnestness.
My favourite is those nutters that claim to be allergic to EM waves! And then go on TV to talk about it! I'm guessing that a debilitating allergy to EM radiation that prevented reproduction would have been bred out of the species a very long time ago. :rotfl:0 -

I was always amazed at the number of people who've read somewhere that some people are allergic to water. As if it wasn't ubiquitous enough, in your body only 1 in 50 molecules aren't water so these people should just be one enormous pustule.:eek:There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -
I wonder how chewy's mass will cope with the kinetic energy from his OH when he presents her with token wedding rings
I expect they'll be delighted!
Although I always did argue they should both be in on the plan from the start, mind. There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -

I hear gas metres, electric metres etc. I so
Me times have to turn everything off at the sockets because I can hear the sockets.
I just know I am going to hear 'The Hum' and then peoe will think I am a nutter.
At the time of my first neurological issue (which we did not know was part of a pattern then) I had a coincidental perfeorated eardrum and as it healed had hearing testing, and I have the hearing of a bat or something. I hear really odd things that do not bother other people.....tvs on standby etc.
Where my dad used to work they have a stonkingly high rate of brain tumours. I.e. scarily high. It's believed to be connected to some equipment. I admit, I am skeptical all we use is risk free. It's just whether the risk is worth it....I don't think things need to be risk free to be more beneficial than not iyswim.0 -

I went to loads of quacks about allergies before discovering what I really was allergic to. They'd all roll out the same rubbish - I shouldn't eat wheat or drink coffee or orange juice. So I eliminated wheat and started eating potatoes. Which I am allergic to. Proper allergic to. Though this never showed up on the quack tests, only the doctor referred ones. It makes me pretty angry as it cost me a fair amount of money and made me ill. False positives are annoying enough, but false negatives could be deadly.
There wasn't much I could eat while on an exclusion diet, particularly as a vegetarian, but I was allowed rice, pears and lettuce. Lamb would have been allowed had I eaten it. I think there may have been one type of fish too, but can't remember which. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? I just wonder how they'l react when we reveal that the so-called "decorators" were just us NPs installing the secret camera/ microphone equipment we'll need to properly monitor the "NP Baby Project" for next year.
I expect they'll be delighted!

I love that idea. I wonder if Mrs chewy has any idea of the level of detail in which her life is discussed by a bunch of internet nutters?Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -

I know we have asked before but cannot remember te answer. You all know dh knows. And we know mrs micheals knows, and mrkool, and mrviva. The others? Are we dirty little secrets for the rest of you?
Oh, sue's James knows about us too.:D
Btw, my dad often says the only think that challenges his atheism is that I have never had the opportunity to inflict names on a human child. Dh and I did suggest a few names for new baby, but pfffft. And dh's really good friend asked for suggestions but for some reason didnot want to call his baby Mungo. I like mungo.
If I had a boy his 'pet' name might have been 'goody' 'boy' or 'Monky' ( as opposed to monkey)0
