You require a TV licence to watch any live channel...not just the BBC.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

Funny thing is I don't see how anyone can Justify spending 10 quid a month to watch the bbc. It's all crap!

As pointed out it is all channels but you don't have a choice. Try saying "I don't see how any driver can justify spending £15 per month on road fund licence" and see where that gets you.

He has paid for his TV license in May for a year and since June he has not watched TV. He want his money back for the TV people since then. Will he have problems getting it back.

He want to take up more activities to keep himself health instead.

I think society's child has pretty much summed it up.
    I agree with you.
  • I also don't watch TV anymore. TV is really a wastage of time, and specially those crappy new channels who keep exaggerating the societies problems lol. I only use my laptop, actually i love it and just do what i really want to ;) or watch only that stuff which i really love to, rather than surfing all 100s of tv channels looking to find some decent stuff..

No - just contact them (by phone is easiest). I think that if you paid all in one go, they refund only unused quarters (ie. groups of 3 months). They will probably also automatically put him down on the database as not needing a TV licence. This shouldn't be a problem.

The suggestions above regarding ignoring the threatening letters (*) and not signing anything that a TVL person presents at the door still stand.

(*) If the database works properly, there shouldn't be any threatening letters, but it doesn't always work out that way.
