I can't believe you've paid sooooo much off in such a short amount of time and are feeling guilty over what you've spent!!!!!! The sofas sound like a bargain, yes you probably could have got similar in the future but at least you didn't go and spend £500 on junk, boys toys and footless tights!!!!

As for feeling guilty about buying hubby a prezzie for his birthday ...... shame on all of you for making OP feel guilty. Again, you could have blown a fortune on boys toys for him, a couple of quid on a DVD is hardly excessive.

Maybe you could have hung on for your daughters bike - but now she's got it, the good weather is coming in and she'll have a few extra months of fun on it, so enjoy her enjoyment of it!

As for how to get motivated - you've said you want to decorate - sit down and draw yourself up a budget room by room. Prioritise what needs doing then set yourself targets. Each room is a challenge to be completed by a certain date, just like a debt, then if you bring it forward another one gets started earlier. That should keep you going for a while.
