Morning all! Was going to post last night but then I realised the time, and I'd had an absolutely abismal day at work & was knacked so I just went to bed instead. Things are slow money-wise, actually waiting for payday already (as I have been since hmhm last week when i got back from the festival
) had 4 NSDs since the beginning of August - should be spend free for the rest of the week too, although I have a friend who's coming up on a last minute visit from London on Sunday, so may have to borrow some money back from OD1 so I can socialise with her! I don't like the idea but I see her like once a year so will have to make the exception for £20 or so - will pay it back next payday.
All I've got left to pay for this month is my phone bill - got the text from orange yest telling me it's 37.16 so need to transfer about £10 over from OD1 into OD2 to cover this. I have paid hopefully the last of my charges this month - £150!!! and so should be able to hit the debt payments with true gusto next month! Have put some bits on eBay (relisted from last time they didn't sell, if they don't sell this time then I'll take them to the charity shop, getting sick of having them underfoot! Got some more to prep / list this week which hopefully will sell / get me a few pennies and get them out of the living room!! I also have the hamster's fancy cage on there, has 2 bids (£5.50) finishing on Sunday (hopefully will go for more) but as this was a joint purchase the money from the sale will go into the joint savings / house deposit fund.
The house is sparkling clean and organised, & am keeping it that way quite successfully up to press (although I'm sure OH is testing my limits as he seems to find it impossible to find the bin or the cloth after cooking, and is slightly confused about the location of the dishwasher :rotfl: we're getting there though) Just got the office / studio to sort out, I ran out of steam & time at the weekend, plus it's a proper 'sort out' kind of job as opposed to just tidy - I'm getting another desk for my studio side but this requires a bit of a clear out first to fit it in - this should hopefully help with creating a bit of a more structured space for my jewellery making, in turn I can get more jewellery made / listed, and in turn again I can make more money! Was going to do this last night but was so tired i cba! Think I'll do it tonight instead. Also slowly working through the ironing (pile as tall as me and I'm no shorty!) All in all feeling a lot less panicky / anxious and a million times better!
Hope everyone is good!!September 2016 GC £21.37/£1200 -
Scuff, what a diary - loved reading it. You sound so much fun - I wish you best of luck with the debt busting, I'm with you all the way! Do you have a DF date?MBNA = £4,000 / Next = £925 (approx. tbc on 19/8)
Tesco = £2,910.11 / Smile overdraft = £500
Bank of Scotland = £2,782.830 -

:hello: helloI'm surprised you got through all 20 pages! Go you haha, I've been lurking around on your diary (creepy!) too
DFD at the moment is August 14 (for the 'actual' debts) and then I'm reckoning on around 6 months to pay my dad back. I want to bring the August forward as much as possible though (especially as I fell off the wagon and stopped debt busting, so my original DFD should be about erm NOW  Good luck with your debt busting too, I admire how difficult it must be for you!!
NSD 5 in the bag - I'm not sure if I said this earlier, memory gone to pot. I'm halfway into the 2nd week of 10hour+ hard slog days and I'm turning to mush!! Only 2 days left though :j this should also give me about £120 in overtime which will go towards the debt next payday. Also another thing I forgot to mention, currently I'm paying OD1 off BUT now it turns out I'm better off paying CC1 > CC2 > OD1 > OD2 so as of next payday this is what I shall do.
eBay stuff not increased, booo! 4 days to go though so there's time!
Keep trying to sort the office but I'm in one of those moods where I pick something up and then walk away and sit down - I must be tiredGonna have another half hour pretending to sort and then make my lunch for tomorrow, find some clothes (another good thing about the O/T fortnight is I don't have to wear nice clothes / make an effort due to the type of work I'm doing, so saves time in the morning too!) and go to bed I thinks

So like Yoda you are. Anyway
that's exciting next Wednesday ee so soon! Housey things are my weakness, I love them! & brilliant on the card and loan, or lack of! And as for us housewise, it's kind of on hold for a bit longer, my bf has been offered a postdoc (ie the degree after a phd) and although this pays well it means he's still a student / short term employed and getting a mortgage will be difficult - no biggie though, gives us more time to save a bigger deposit which is kind of what I wanted to do in the first place, although we are desperate to get our own place! X
WOW congratulations to Mr Scuff on the postdoc, that's wicked!! :T And as you say deffo more time to save up which is great. I hear they are bringing the help to buy out to non-new builds possibly next year too which would be great too x0 -

That confused me so much, irl Mr Scuff is what some of my friends call my dad, I was thinking 'huh?! how does she know my dad and what has he done?!' haha. But then the penny dropped :P Thankings. RE: the help to buy that would be really good, I was a bit miffed when it came out as only new builds at first - don't really want a new build!September 2016 GC £21.37/£1200 -
Morning! Not much to report here, plodding away waiting for payday, struggling with urges to spend, but on the whole I'm holding out. My friend came up to visit from London on Sunday, don't see her very often so I was a bit spendy -train fare into Leeds, dinner, a cup of tea in a cafe and a couple of cheapy tops for work from h&m. Spent around £60 in total, which I will have to pay myself back on payday. A handful of ebay stuff finished on Sunday too, 3 skirts and the hamster cage - skirts didn't sell (2nd time of listing) and the hamster cage went for a measly £9.17 which annoyed me as it's a rotastak jobby and they usually sell on ebay for at least £20. (~£50 new!) This is joint money and will go in the house savings. Will take the skirts to charity shop on Sat with a couple of other bits not worth listing, and get the rest of the stuff that's been hanging around the lounge listed this week. Might start a 10 day listing tomorrow, might wait til Sun - will see how it goes!
As I mentioned earlier I've been getting bad urges to go clothes shopping - I'm sure that if I went now I could easily blow a massive chunk of money - I think it's the change in seasons mixed with me putting on weight/not feeling comfortable in my clothes/opening the floodgates with my shopping on Sun. Decided to make a skirt to make me feel better - it's kind of worked plus given me something to do in the evening, although I'm bored of hemming now!
Up to 10 nsds, (aiming for 20) today will most definitely not be one - just bought milk and a slice of toast (61p) and need to fill up on diesel and get a replacement fuse for the car - hopefully after this I'll be able to open my boot!!!!! NSDs for the rest of the week planned!!!!September 2016 GC £21.37/£1200 -
Got home to a letter from eon, apparently our plan runs out at the end of Sept, so obviously they'd just bobbed us on their 'standard' price plan. Few clicks of a few buttons and I'd saved ~£100 over the year. As I've mentioned before, electricity costs us a whopping £142 a month (direct debit) and so any little bit helps! After all, whatever we save goes towards the house deposit, ultimately. A few winter preparations should also help bring this down too, as we're all electric it's a very expensive flat to heat!! I had the choice of claiming our £21 worth of rewards either as money off the bill (spread over the year) or in Clubcard points, so I opted for the points as we can boost these and they'll be worth more. I'm thinking this is the right decision?

Morning Scuff
Hope you don't mind me popping on to your thread but thought I might be able to help with a couple of things.
When a particular tariff ends, we do automatically default customers to our standard plan. These tariffs, though, have no restrictions like cancellation charges so you're free to switch product/supplier at any time without penalty.
We'll also be happy to work with you to help you cut back on usage and save money. We've an Energy Efficiency team who specialise in helping people reduce usage. I'd recommend having a chat with these guys. Tell them about your property and appliances. They'll be happy to help.
Ask for a copy of a booklet called '100 ways to save money by saving energy.' It's free and contains lots of useful tips to help you save.
Check out our website, too. Particularly the 'Interactive House' and 'Energy Menu.' More good tips here.
It's surprising how making small cutbacks on various things can add up to significant savings. Things like not leaving stuff on standby, making sure the backs of fridges and freezers are clear so they work more efficiently or not overcharging gadgets/mobile phones.
Probably not much of a saving individually but, when added together, it can be surprising how much electricity can be saved.
Hope this is of interest Scuff. Give me a shout if you need any more info as will be happy to help.

Thanks Malc,
Sadly for us I have already been on the website, printed out and read the 100 ways to save money with a fine tooth comb and done pretty much all we can. The tv is plugged into one of those standby things (from yourselves) so it goes off rather than being on standby, I downgraded the lightbulbs and the most expensive room to light (being a modern flat they're all downlighters) we don't turn the main lights on. I can't get behind the fridge to check as it's built in. There are 2 main problems with our situation: The flat is rented so a lot of the things we can't do / change, and it's all electric, so things like heating water (immersion tank) and heating the flat in the winter (electric heaters as opposed to radiators) cost us a lot of money. We also have a ventilation system that in the winter is pretty much always running - it wouldn't be a good idea to turn it off either as the flat gets very condensate-y very fast. I'm trying (and not succeeding as much as I'd like) every trick in the book! Thanks for your help though!
On a good note though this morning I've reduced our dd to £109 a month!September 2016 GC £21.37/£1200 -
Oh I also forgot, don't know if I mentioned that my 'new' car has a lot of annoying problems with it (one being that the boot doesn't open, another being that the person who had it last replaced the spare wheel with one that's 2" SMALLER THAN THE REST!!!!!!) Div. Anyway, my lovely dad rang me up last night and he's bought me a replacement one (I hadn't got round to it yet due to cash issues) and is giving me it as a present. Goo Dad! So that saves me a few pennies trying to sort! Now just need to get into the boot! And buy a new aerial. And fix the sticking sunroof. And get a new catch / handle for the glove compartment...September 2016 GC £21.37/£1200
