Signature updated, £230 has been paid off OD1, and I discovered CC1 wasn't as much as I thought (only £65 less but still better than nothing!!) so updated this too! Saw I had 41p in my ISA so transferred 34p of that to OD1 - makes it a nice round number!!

Have decided to put £10 a month car maintenance and £2.50 a month car tax (SERIOUSLY still in shock that this new car only costs £30 to tax, my corsa was £140!) into my ISA (this is how I found the 41p haha) rather than just state it in my budget but do nothing with it - meaning where as before I had no money when I needed to maintain the car even though I had apparently 'budgeted' for it, it's there when I need it. So I've done this!

Car insurance is due on Sunday, last year my Mum lent me the money for it (rather than me pay crazy interest on monthly payments) but I continued to pay her at my monthly payment rate from the year before - this meant I had some money saved up for this time around. Despite me thinking that I would be able to pay the entire amount with the surplus this year - no such luck, so another £450 (!!!!!!!) has had to be borrowed from bank of mum. Continuing to pay this at £90 a month as before, and then after 5 months I'll put £90 a month in the ISA with the maintenance money, and hopefully be closer to next year's astronomical target!!!!

What else while I'm on a roll :p oh yeah, tried to sell some stuff on eBay which ended on Sunday gone - princely sum of £4.23.... this was ahem slightly less than I anticipated haha!

£120 has gone in the petrol account (this is what my last car used a month, as mentioned in an earlier post, once I find out how much a month the new more economical car uses, I'll reduce accordingly!)

And I think that is all!!!! :D:o

I didn't realise you had returned Scuff, welcome back! I have also taken some controversial decisions recently - getting to nearly credit card free then booking a holiday - so I feel your pain.

The important thing is, that's all in the past and you're here now with a good plan. I had just summoned up the enthusiasm to go on eBay with a few bits but I think reading your post has just killed that off. :rotfl:Sounds like you're budgeting really well and sticking to it too. I have similar small spending money amounts so I'll be interested to see how you get on.

  • Hi Scuff,

WB I've been AWOL a bit too recently.

Well done on the pay rise and woo to the new car :) xx

Hey guys :) nice to see you again!

Well I'm skulking back in with my tail between my legs... turns out being in a field for 4 days, slightly drunk with a bank card, isn't too good for your spending...

Been a bit scared to come back and fess up to that one, but it's out now!

Haven't checked my bank yet, will do that tonight. As well as make a plan to become more organised, which should hopefully stop me feeling so stressed. The feeling of 10 elephants sitting on my chest has been strong lately, and it's not getting any better. Having everything done / ready should take some of this away. Hopefully!

Still need to check my bank :doh:I'll do this after I've finished posting... in good news however, I got an email and a letter from barclaycard offering 0% balance transfer back into my old credit card I never got around to cancelling. It's only for 6 months, but CC1 is due to run out of 0% next month  so lucky timing. I could only transfer £1170 (bit random, given my limit is £1300) & 1.9% handling fee, so CC1 is now down to £945.56 and the re-addition CC2 is at £1192.23. I shall have to do some re-snowballing to see how my plans should change once CC1 becomes interesty!

NSD 2 for me today (well, unless there's a disaster, I'm not leaving the house now I'm home!!)

Did no organisation plan at all last night, all I did was sleep, work hours are long for this week and next but I can't complain - it gets me a little overtime for next month! I have however made a scrappy list of what I need to do daily/weekly/etc today, so I'm gonna get on that and see where it gets me!

Now to check my current account...

Current account is as I expected - empty. Not actually spent as much as I thought though which is a relief. There's nearly enough left for my phone bill (will need to transfer about £7 over) which is the only thing left to come out!
Just redid the snowballing - turns out I have to totally turn my priority cards around. Snowballing makes my head hurt! I'm off for a cuppa!!

I know how you feel, well done for coming back and being brave enough to log when you've spent too much. There's many a time where I've stuck a load of stuff on my card whilst merry and then spent days summoning the courage to deal with the damage. Well done for looking and getting it sorted.

I also know exactly how horrible it is feeling anxious all the time - I loved your description of the elephants on your chest. :) Getting some things organised and giving yourself a bit more peace of mind should definitely help.

I felt better once I'd come clean but man was I scared haha, first month back and all!

Hope everyone's had a good weekend. I've had a reasonably quiet one, with a LSD yesterday (at the last minute too, OH treated me to a couple of pints, but on the way back the lure of the hot dog van was too strong, and my will too weak, and so I spent £2.50...) and NSD today. The flat is sparkling clean other than I need to mop the kitchen and bathroom floors and tackle the massive pile of ironing. Going to keep on top of it from now on, I must say I feel better already. My lunch is made and packed ready for tomorrow (HM butternut squash and sweet potato soup - very mse of me as we had one of those 'ready prepared' veg packs that come in a tin tray (bn squash and sweet pot!) with our tea on Fri night, but it wasn't very well seasoned and also was slightly undercooked, so neither of us ate it. I boiled it off in some chicken stock, whizzed it up with the blender, and seasoned it, et voila! yummy soup. :D All I need to do now is find myself some clothes and I'll be set for the morning! (It's the getting lunch & clothes ready that tend to set me off in a panic in the morning if I haven't done them, so this should help more in the quest for more organisation and less anxiety!

Speaking of clothes, several annoying things have happened; firstly, I bought a pair of rust coloured work trousers (chino-y things) from ebay a while ago (maybe nearly a year) but they were slightly too big. I'm on a mission to put on weight, and now they fit me lovely. This would be good had I not knelt on the floor at work where there was slightly acidic solution (this is the norm) and DISSOLVED THE KNEES OUT OF THEM. Cross! I'm just going to make them into jazzy shorts, but it's still annoying. The second annoying thing is to be expected - gaining weight is all well and good (for me) but one downside - none of my jeans fit any more. With the warm weather we've had recently I hadn't noticed, went to put some on today - FAIL. So new jeans will have to be bought before winter.

Will be a spend day tomorrow, I need petrol and have a dentist appointment after work. I should be able to have a spend free rest of the week though.

Anyway, after that massive ramble, I'm off to bed! Night all!

Just seen your reply, so forgetful at the moment I am!

My shiny new pad is... not quite mine yet but hopefully next Wednesday! I've been shopping for housey things for the past few weeks (and trying not to add anything to those card balances!).

I disappeared from here for a bit while I got my head down and got rid of my card an loan debt. No going back now I'm almost out, even though it does mean sitting on deckchairs for a while!

How is your house saving and hunting going? x

So like Yoda you are. Anyway :o that's exciting next Wednesday ee so soon! Housey things are my weakness, I love them! & brilliant on the card and loan, or lack of! And as for us housewise, it's kind of on hold for a bit longer, my bf has been offered a postdoc (ie the degree after a phd) and although this pays well it means he's still a student / short term employed and getting a mortgage will be difficult - no biggie though, gives us more time to save a bigger deposit which is kind of what I wanted to do in the first place, although we are desperate to get our own place! X
