Also have made the decision not to get involved with Secret Santas at work- costs money plus causes stress trying o decide what to buy. Am I turning into Scrooge???

How much are the limits for secret santas? I thought they were supposed to be cheap!! Although I agree about the stress, luckily I work with a lot of men and so don't need to buy anyone any presents!!

:rotfl:And here was me feeling sorry for you because you spent so much money trying to find the perfect present for everyone... :p

I thought choosing the perfect present required a reward!:p
  • Hey honey,

When we do secret santa at work its usually £10 - tbh I cant afford any more than that I have enough presents to buy plus I need my Christmas cocktail fund LOL

Oh I love Christmas - I will admit to buying most of my presents on a CC this was before I had my LBM.

I would just say that you don't want to do it this year, but don't know how people take things like that!! Unless everyone's really good friends I think secret santa is a bit like wasting money tbh, you all buy a random £10 present and get a random £10 present back, neither of which is really wanted, and people always end up complaining. Totally not the spirit of Christmas!
I love Christmas too, it's starting to feel festive now don't you think, now the nights are dark and crisp :D:D:D

I apologise in advance, this is going to be a mammoth post. Maybe you should go get a cup of tea...

I'm finding myself feeling more and more stressed lately, and then in turn more and more lazy, which makes me more stressed out about the things I need to not be lazy with, which then leads me to give up all the more. I'll be honest, this site doesn't help, because it's all too easy to pass the entire evening just sitting on here reading diaries rather than getting on with real life! Think I need to put myself on an MSE limit!!

I've figured out there are three areas of my life I need to address (in addition to finances etc) which should hopefully set me on the straight and narrow towards a stress free Scuff!

    1) Tidy Scuff
I'd quite like to get to the state where I dont spend Saturday mornings tidying, one where things stay in their rightful place and where I don't suddenly drown in washing and ironing. On Friday night / Saturday morning, I filled the sink full of hot water and pans etc, and left the water to 'cool down' while I did something else. They're still there. It's Tuesday. I need to get a grip. I'm hoping to get it so that I do a couple of small things a day and get back on top of it! Like take 5 mins to clean the bathroom down after I shower on a morning (this may be unobtainable atm, see point 2 :o) or before I go to bed, so it stays nice. I'm already trying to get back into the habit of wiping the kitchen down on an evening, so am going to carry on doing this. Little things like this should save time in the long run and also leave me less 'frazzled' because the house is suffocating me. I actually like cleaning, it's just the total sudden tip that gets me down.

    2) No more sleepy Scuff
I need need NEED to start getting up on time, this means I need need NEED to go to ned on time!! I'm always tired lately, falling asleep at my desk and in the habit of jumping out of bed with 15 mins to shower dry and get down (5 flights) to the car. I would quite like a more 'leisurely' get up routine, preferably involving time to do my make up and have a cup of tea!! I half got this sorted just before I started my diary, clothes were prepped the night before etc I wasn't a headless chicken running around in a pair of tights with wet hair looking for my car keys, but I'm slowly but surely reverting back to this way. Addressing (1) should help slightly, as being organised the night before will help, but being in bed by 11pm latest on a work night is also a must

    3) Creative Scuff
I am, by nature, a creative person. I always have 'projects' ongoing, and am usually dreaimng up the next thing I can be getting on with. This is one of the places a lot of my money has gone in the past as some of these creations dont come as cheaply as first expected. But lately I've just stopped. I can't be bothered. I need to get bothered. Things need finishing. Half of our bedroom is still all over the place because I can't be bothered finishing off the drawers. I know I'll be so much happier once they're done, so why don't I just do them?! And the other harebrained ideas in my noggin. Come on Scuff, get back on it!!!

So I'm going to set myself my daily list but centred around these three areas (plus money related stuff obvs) until I get back into the habit of being a functioning person, and life has gone and passed me by.

Another thing I need to do is spend more time with OH, just chilling watching films / going on little drives etc. We've been useless at it lately and despite him sitting 2 feet away from me every night, I miss him! Haha

Anyway my hands are sore from typing! I'll come back later with tonight's 'list'

    xx
