£45 of HMV e vouchers between four of us.
Ideal for buying gifts for teenagers and grown ups.

Also the MacDonalds promotion running at the moment
where you can get money of a £10 or more spend
works using these vouchers online. Also everything on the

Could you add some really nice biscuits to it? Sainsburys do some nice almond thins and I am sure you can find some nice cakes to go with as well - I love walnut cake with buttercream (or make your own - even better!)...

Also something that could go with teatime is a nice book - depends what she reads - murder-mystery / historical / biography / poetry?

On E-bay I bought some handmade soaps for my wedding - they were rose shaped and you could ask them to add a sparkly finish to the rose petals (I asked the lady who did mine to do this as she offered it as an option), that could add a really decorative touch too and also scents the basket alot - I got rose scented in dark red, and lily scented in cream - all rose shaped and with sparkly finish. Worked out about £0.50 each I think + P&P. If she is a gardner there may be something really moisturising and fresh you could choose?

Maybe a gardening DVD or a movie that has a fait bit of gardening or sweeping pretty scenery in it?

It's a lovely idea, enjoy putting it together!

Could you buy her a plant for the garden like a blackcurrant and buy blackcurrant flavoured tea, or another type of fruit like raspberry?

Maybe a novel that has a gardening theme to it?

And hand lotion and bath foam, like Radox muscle soak, are surely a must for a gardener.

    Hi All

I brought a pretty pink scarf today to go in my nans basket - its baby pink with roses sown onto it randomly - its really pretty though so i think if i can find a nice pink tea pot and then get smaples of allt he teas form that tea site it will be a nice little basket for her.

Plus i was explaining to my mum about making hampers and the themes id thought of and then she asked what her theme was - doh! hadnt planned on doing one for my mother!

any ideas what i can put into a basket for a tattoo adn piercing loving, tarot card reading, punk mother who loves bon jovi and meatloaf??? hte only thing i can think of is she loves tigers and has everythign adn anythign to do with tigers except adopting one - but that is gonna be her 45th birthday present from me and ben this year.

    stumped!!

Im thinking all the tea if it comes in plastic bags i might rebag it in pretty pink and purple bags so keep pink and purple as the theme.

8 MONTHS TODAY!! Exactly 8 months to go everyone!

I took up knitting in the New Year and if I can get to grips with it (so far I've done 2 scarves and the 1st one was decidedly wonky!) then I might be able to progress to bags or sock perhaps? Can anyone point me in the direction of a website with free patterns, or even cheap ones?

Lightspeed and pigsback points are progressing well still, so hope to do most of my shopping later in the year with the vouchers have mounted up!

  • Hi Queen Bess.

I always find that about.com have some good patterns that are usually free and graded into difficulty levels. There is a great website called knittinghelp.com that has some really good videos on - not sure if it's American or not, but they have both American and European techniques which I found really useful as the American's knit from right needles to left.

Quite sweet and would go with most things - how long do you have until the deadline (sorry if it's xmas, haven't had a chance to read all your posts)? You never know a local charity shop may have something too... but the ebay one is a good price and wrapped too.
