  • Hi, really pleased to see that I'm not the only person who has thought about christmas. We came back from our summer holiday on the tuesday (3am) and that evening I'd bought 70% of our christmas and birthday presents for the rest of the year from tesco. As much as I hate giving such a large corporate my money, when it was possible to buy a 'learn to play chess' set for £2.49 instead of £10, (and I had the perfect recipient) then what else could I do... I think Tesco direct still have a sale on at the mo if anyone's interested.

Haven't made anything from the pigsback etc type of sight... still slowly saving my boots points. Sent my parents away on eurostar with tescos for mum's 65th birthday (feb) and will do the same as their christmas presents (have already had the discussions). Other than that, have bought great books for people through bookpeople.co.uk (ferrari book, should be £25, £4.99, great for a fan).

Hope some of this helps. As a mum of two toddlers (2yo & 1yo), shopping in the convential sense for christmas is a complete no-go... Steph.

Hi, I was at a shopping outlet village yesterday and two shops there had great bargains for Christmas.

Julian Graves had lots of fruit and nuts half price. They also had really good quality wicker baskets reduced to £2.99. Guessing the size was about 18"x12"x5". I had already bought mines' from a local market.

Also Whittard of Chelsea had reduced everything in their shop to half price. Great for anyone making tea or coffee hampers. I bought some of those little coffee flavouring bottles reduced to 75p and a large bag of crystallised ginger for 99p.

Those who live in/around Liverpool and wondering about the new Primark in Church Street - It's supposed to be opening on the 12 September ;)

Posted this on the mens thread below, should prob go on the hamper thread but decided to make my dearly beloved a vintage hamper for xmas as he is a massive big kid! including games such as frustration and hungry hippos from his childhood, annuals and videos of dangermouse, teenage mutant hero turtles etc and also the old vintage sweets such as black jacks etc as per retro sweety boxes. Also thought I might put in a retro football shirt - an 80's shirt for the team he supports - anyone else got 80/90s kids inspiration??
I did a similar idea for my other half last year and bought items from car boots to fill a box...he loved it!! :)
