Went into Poundland today and they have some pretty metal pastel coloured flower pots in there at the mo which may make a nice alternative hamper holder especially if filled with co-ordinating coloured/packaged smellies and a flannel....it is not of more importance than daily life, which I have an enduring wish to make as useful and beautiful as possible.

in our family most birthdays fall just before or after xmas,so its a very expensive time of year for us , I tend to get about 70% of pressies and stuff during the year so far Ive got .....
lots of cards and wrapping paper from january sales .
a couple of bratz for my daughter from sales too ,£4.99 down from a tenner .
lots of little stocking fillers, card games /drawing stuff ,I get bits with my normal grocery shopping if I can.
started saving morrisons stamps , only 2 quid so far but will work on this as from this week.
my daughters 21st next january ,so I may make a special birthday hamper for her ,thanks to some of your ideas on here.0 -
Well I'm not as organised as you are, as I have just moved house so I'm thinking more of getting the house sorted in time for christmas (can't wait for christmas in my new house!!!).
ditto, we moved in this weekend at long last (we bought it three months ago and have been slogging to get it how we wanted it)
I even bought my christmas tree and decs in the sale after january, It came to a grand total of #15!!
so now I am having to move this christmas from one house (his grans) to out new house agggghhhhhh have I really thought this through!!!
On the positive, I have christmas sorted bought prezzies, and paper, tags etc. I don't do cards. so it is just a house to sort and christmas food to save for!The sign of a wasted life is a tidy house, Welcome to the chaos!0 -
Hi all, just thought I would let you know this tip, apologies if everyone knew already and I was the last one to find out!
To save money for Xmas, rather than buy loads at Boots to get Advantage points, you can get a free Boots GiftCard, and each time you shop in boots (or even if you buy nothing) you can go to the till and ask them to put on a few pounds.
Then when it comes to Xmas, those little occasional amounts will have added up and your giftcard will be loaded!MFW #185

Thanks, great idea, I will start to do this and get my wife to do the same. On the same theme, which other major High Street retailers have schemes like this???0
