folks, have just moved house and looking for a new broadband supplier. any views on plusnet: was thinking of their £24.99 package (4gb cap with phone bundle evening and weekend calls). really would appreciate your views on this. i have sky television also and am not able to receive their sky max service (not available on my postcode). was also thinking of virgin bundle (broadband, tv and phone but worried about their dispute with sky, and anyway i have now gone ahead with sky tv). thanks as always

BLOODBATH IN THE EVENING THEN? OR PERHAPS THE AFTERNOON? OR THE MORNING? OH, FORGET THIS MALARKEY!

i have been with Plus for 4 years and personally haven't had any issues. Also know 4 other people at work and family that haven't had any issues.
Having said that there were some real and well documented issues with customer service and emails that happened last year, though they seem to have turned this round. (if you look on https://www.theregister.co.uk and search for plusnet you will find the stories)
All in all I would recommend them.Ever stop to think and forget to start again?0 -
thanks - could i ask your advice: would a 4gb cap allow me to download a few youtube clips a month? also, is their phone bundle at £11 of good quality in your opinion. thanks again.BLOODBATH IN THE EVENING THEN? OR PERHAPS THE AFTERNOON? OR THE MORNING? OH, FORGET THIS MALARKEY!

How much is it without the phone calls? Seems rather expensive since a 1hr call on BT offpeak only costs 5p. You can also use VOIP to make free or cheap calls.
Also 4GB/mth limit is quite low for such a price.
Have you compared packages on https://www.thinkbroadband.com0 -
...without the phone package it is £14.99. yes, i agree it is rather expensive but i heard that they offer a very good service (much like zen broadband which is even more expensive). had bad experiences with talktalk in my previous home so perhaps i should go for a different bundle. perhaps the virgin broadband/phone bundle at £20?? too many choices - i just want something which works, reasonable cost and preferably no cap or reasonable cap (say, 20GB). thanks.BLOODBATH IN THE EVENING THEN? OR PERHAPS THE AFTERNOON? You need to remember that the 24.99 includes line rental, so you are getting the evening and weekend calls included for nowt. (Hopefully not sounding like a plus advert :-s )
Guess you are looking at Broadband Plus? Your peak period is between 4-midnight so would have thought 4gb is enough. Look at the restrictions on the account though..Ever stop to think and forget to start again?0 -
I was wth Plusnet until they have started to apply Fair Usage Policy. Qualitywise, it was very very good: speed, connection, and customer service, no problem at all. If you are looking for "normal" internet actvity, ie. browsing web, emailing, go for it. But if you are doing sth else, ie. a lot of p2p, forget about it.0

I was ! I was only downloading about 5Gb a month then my 2Mb service dropped to as low as 56Kb, somebody else was getting my Fair Share and more !
However, it did only take them 5 hours to give me my MAC when I said I was leaving. Have been with Zen for 6 weeks now, steady at 2Mb, costs more - but ......0 -
I was with them up until about 10 months ago, I would avoid like the plague - unless they have changed their ways - very bad customer service, slow speeds, lost emails and days without any emails - and this was on a business package - never again will they have any business off of me.0

I was with them for approx 4.5/5 years until about 5 months or so ago - they morphed from a company with breathtakingly superb customer service levels to a pathetic excuse for an ISP - customer service is the worst aspect - yes one hopes one doesn't need to contact them , but if you do ... boy are you in for an unpleasant time,
The above poster has touched on other issues - but a peruse through their own forums reveals the extent of disquiet amongst customers and many, like myself, have voted with their feet - save yourself the heartache and don't even consider them any more.Hate and I do mean Hate my apple Mac Computer - wish I'd never bought the thing

Please stop using the word "of" when you actually mean "have" - it's damned annoying :mad:0 -

I'll give them that as well - didn't get my MAC code as quickly as that, but it was pretty quickly and they handled it well - shame they have so many other issues
Wonder if things have gotten better/worse or remained the same since the BT takeover ?Hate and I do mean Hate my apple Mac Computer - wish I'd never bought the thing
