    I couldn't believe it.

But I laughed out loud at one of the comments about her name Stin Ki Finga :rotfl:

In many countries washing after using the loo is standard practice. We are the odd ones using paper.

And she is washing clothes, just hand washing instead of a washing machine. Did that for years myself with the very occasional laundrette visit.

I am not keen on drying clothes inside because they can get stuffy particularly in the city but recall a friend who lived in the Caribbean. The condominium (sp) forbade the drying of clothes outside, so in this sweltering environment everyone else used tumble dryers. He closed the blinds and dried clothes on racks behind the slats.
If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing
  • I do have all the the luxurys ie washing machine and tumble dryer but have over £20,000 of debt to get rid of so, I have tried writing diaries on here before and not kept it up, but now I am determined to get rid of this debt, I am going to do a bit of hand washing, for delicates and stuff what needs a quick freshen up, and just spin it in the machine, and I will not be using the dryer any more, I will put it in front of the woodburner, which I am going to try and keep going with free fire wood if I can get it like old pallets etc, so I am going to try extreme money saving, but I will still be using loo roll:rotfl:
  • Oh my...now that is extreme! As others have said, using toilet paper isn't the norm across the world and this lady may well be continuing to use the method she was brought up to...not sure as to the overall saving though...

I handwash my, ahem, underthings and never had a problem with it. Read somewhere you're supposed to wash your bra everyday :undecided: which takes me two minutes at the end of the day with a bit of soap and hot water instead of depending on the washing pile roulette. :rotfl:

I'm guessing this show is in the same vein of 'Extreme Couponing' with the focus on those who really do take it to the limits...should make for fun watching though, lol.

I do remember reading about a couple in New York living in a itsy bitsy apartment - they didn't shower or cook there because there was no bathtub/shower and they used the kitchen cupboards and oven for storing their belongings - so maybe the extreme way is the only way in New York. :rotfl:

I have lived out in India and the middle east and its usual practice to use water after your ablutions. when I can back to the UK, I really missed the 'shower' after using the loo and promised myself I would have one installed when the bathroom refit took place.

I see there is a new series of extreme cheapstakes coming on 16 Oct and I will watch to see if I can pick up any tips!

  • I've worked in Asia too, and although we stuck to our western ways in using toilet paper, I've overheard it from the other side. Locals discussing how dirty westerners must be because they "don't wash, just wipe themselves with paper - how disgusting! how can they walk around all day like that!?" etc. That is why it's in some Asian cultures never to touch food with your left hand - thats the one you wash with! Saying that my experience was everyone was scrupulous about handwashing, I remember when I came back to the UK how shocked I was at the number of people who would sail right out the toilet stalls without stopping at the sink.
No buying unnecessary toiletries 2014. Epiphany on 4/4/14 - went into shop to buy 2 items, walked out with 17!

$400,000 is £247,613.31 at today's rate of excange. I wish our household income was that much! Silly bizzum, as we say here. Some folk really don't have a clue.

Same here! That's the story that really shocked me! I can't even begin to imagine what it must be like to earn a 6-figure salary :rotfl:
