I usually pick up a couple when I'm there as they're lovely for just that kind of thing- I made a button heart picture for my mum's birthday and will be making a cotton reel one soon and may just stretch to a jungle bell Christmas frame! Thanks for the inspiration
Yes, it should do, I've made a few of these & I can't emphasize enough, how important it is to make sure you glue the tops onto the baubles before you start
.
I used about 85-90 for each one. threading them onto the hangers & then hot-glued some smaller baubles in place when I'd finished my circle.
Last year, when I got the wreaths out of storage, I discovered that some of the glued smaller baubles had fallen off but I just re-glued them back on
I've just had a look at one in the loft & some baubles have fallen off again, perhaps because of the range of temperatures up there. Anyway, they'll just be glued again
LOL yep definitely glue the tops on... I made one last year and thought "PAH! What nonsense... " DOH - I'm going to make another this year and I can promise you it'll have the tops glued on first (hot glue gun is the best...)
The baubles will ping off if you don't glue them and trying to squeeze them back on in a tight space that probably isn't actually big enough is just going to ping one off somewhere else LOL
Thanks for all the advice on glueing the tops on before I start making the wreath. I was going to do it, as I have just discovered my OH has a hot glue gun, so when I get some free time, i'll make a start.
I'll have a look next time I'm in Ikea for a shadow box too.2016 is the year I am going to find time for me, and cherish the time I spend with my friends and family. It is also time to save - Aim £4,000 - So far this year - £230/£4,0000 -
Well, I finally made some decorations at the weekend :j

Took me about 4 hours all in to make them. Turns out I can't sew in a straight line, or sew in a circle. I can't thread a needle on the first attempt either :rotfl:
But I'm chuffed to bits! Chuffed that I said I was going to do something and I done it :T Feels nice
Can't think of anything smart to put here...0 -

How about some Polish Porcupine Balls? They look lovely made with glossy silver or gold paper like this:

or outside baubles if it's cold - fill balloons with water, add food colouring, wait for them to freeze then remove balloon coverings:
I'm an adult and I can eat whatever I want whenever I want and I wish someone would take this power from me.

In the past I have collected pine cones and also twigs, etc, and given them a good spray with silver/gold/red/glittery paint then just stuck them in all my unused vases. silvery ones look great in the corner of the bathroom or other minor rooms as they feel more like a "winter celebration" rather than full-on chintzy Christmas.
Also in a Harvester of all places this weekend, their theme seemed to be covering over the pictures on the walls with plain shiny wrapping paper and sticking a bow or ribbon around it. Looked quite effective, but you would probably need a fair few to get the overall effect in your home.0 -
You can make pom pom snow men and reindeer with two different sized pom poms and felt.0

Oh, and on superscrimpers they used an old upside down lightbulb to make a lovely snowman dec.0
