Making christmas decorations?

I'm looking to make my own decorations this year. Or at least some of them :)

I've bought a small crochet mat thingy that I'm going to cut up, use the crochet circles on one side and plain fabric on the other side, stuff them and attach to the tree with a bit of ribbon.

I've got a few small cross stitch kits (think one is a reindeer and the other is a gingerbread man). Doing the same thing as the crochet, cross stitch on one side and fabric on the other and then stuffing it.

Was thinking of buying some small wooden shapes and painting them, maybe adding glitter to some of them.

Any other suggestions? Easy things, I'm not much of a crafter :)

Last year Hobbycraft were selling white foam board quite cheap and I bought a big sheet and cut out lots of candy cane shapes in different sizes. Bit of red paint for the stripes and they looked quite good.

As the board is flat, I was able to stick some together to give an x shape which also looked a bit different.

Pine cones, how could I forget about those! Need to collect them, could maybe spray some gold or silver (not decided on my theme for this year yet), love it! x

mrsgreenwood I don't know how to fix them together either! Wonder what those gold bits are called, that are stuck into the top holding the ribbon. But by the time you buy the balls, the ribbon, the glitter and then the gold bits... It's turning out quite expensive :(
Repinning some of those things on pinterest, loving the green christmas trees :-)

  • i bought x8 7cm balls off ebay for £1.50 free postage which i didnt think was bad? also bought some x10 10cm balls for £5 something free postage.

will probably get the glitter & ribbon from ebay aswell and will get the kids to help me make them, hopefully they will enjoy that.

not sure what else you could make? i love the glass vases/lanterns filled with decorations.

luckily my parents have a pine cone tree in their garden so i will collect some of them and try and make something.

let us know if you think of anymore ideas :)

Just read the instructions for this, amazing!

I could actually make these, just need a little time and a steady hand :)
