Dartford crossing toll rise

For those who cross the river at dartford in kent via the M25 the greedy Government have decided to increase the charges to £2 each way for a car more for HGV's from 7th Oct. They use a lame excuse citing future maintenance, we were told it would be toll free once paid for, this toll raise over £50 million a year. There is an E petition in existence please sign it

    The problem is the deficit.

If the government don't get more income from the bridge, where should they get more income from or what should they cut?
  • Cant understand the logic of the Dartford crossing. Have toll gates which cause holdups so they want to build a new crossing, with tolls, to reduce holdups. Has it never occurred to then that remove the tolls and there would be no hold up?

They will remove the tolls booths eventually and put in London Congestion Charge type payment.

If you use the tunnel a lot the Dart Tag is cheaper - and if you live in Thurrock or Dartford you can travel for 20p a trip!

20p a trip is fine if you use it a lot, but you have to pay £10 to register although you will get 50 trips but it has to be used in a year.
I won't apply for jobs the other side of the crossing as I would have to leave early each day in case of delays.
  • Get a Dart Tag. Mind you the charge is going up on that from £1 to £1.33.

I second that if only to prevent that rushing round the house trying to find change before every trip across the bridge.

All my cars are fitted with tags and on the same account so I just top it up whenever it gets short and never have to worry about having change.
