I am sorry to refer back to APG after the circus has left town (it was fun while it lasted :) ), but have you noticed that their new receipt image in the new bar code version is dated mid August - which suggests that this new bar code based system has been in development for a while rather than a response to the recent glitch? Also the exclusion of Morrisons and Waitrose may be reasonable if there aren't Morrisons and Waitrose in Northern Ireland, so you couldn't shop there anyway without a ferry trip ...?

    Just a thought.

Yes I seem to remember the barcode thing was mentioned on the apg page near to the start of this glitch, even before it was well publicised, so it seems as though they were rolling it out anyway.
They had to take the site down for a while to implement the changes, so it looks like they tweaked the glitch too.
I'm not entirely convinced that the glitch is completely gone, but I've got plenty stuff that I'm happy to let it slide. Never did manage to get the OEP on glitch, but there's always T's - they are good for [STRIKE]messing up their calculations of multibuys[/STRIKE] glitches.:D

    It's only a game

  • Whats the deal with HENLANS?

He goes to the Daily Mail and other National media gloating about how he made £8000+ worth of shopping out of the sada glitch which incidently I believe was the trigger to the end of the glitch as it provoked a response from Mr Foord the Chief Exec of Mysupermarket and Asda it also made many more people aware of the glitch who started doing it.

While HENLANS was helpful to us all in launching a website telling us all the products we could buy and which supermarkets they compared to this actually only saved us time as you can work out those details for yourself and infact he was also helping mysupermarket in identifying those products aswell all which now come up in the APG as N/A.

HENLANS wanted people to follow him on Twitter and #HENLANS is now gone as is his website HENLANS.CO.UK

He also had a go at a few people on here especially about reprinted APG's where the receipt was not marked by the SA saying it was against the APG T&C's and yet he had over £8000 worth of APG's in 4 weeks saying the £100 max per month didnt happen if you checked your receipts in on your iphone so he was infact breaking the T&CS himself getting APG's worth more than £100 a day.

I know the information he gave helped a few extra people out, be it for a short while anyway but I do strongly feel that had he not blabbered to the Media we would still be enjoying the glitch for a few more weeks so THANKS A LOT HENLANS!!!!!!!

To be honest I actually think he works in Info Tech maybe at Asda, Tesco Waitrose or even mysupermarket or maybe in the media (Grocer, Daily Mail etc)

I have been given a name for him from a trace on his IP for his yahoo and website but maybe its an alias

Who here uses the big t at Blackpool? Is it any good for finding good stuff? What's the wombling like there?

I do.....just posted earlier about my bargains tonight. TBH that's was an exceptionally good night, it hit and miss.

:( I usually only get there once a week and usually evenings when it's quiet and there's not much in the way of wombles. Having said that Im usually pushed for time and don't get time to have a really good look.

When are you going? I'll let you know where I found the reduced stuff if it's soon...it was hidden out of the way:D

    My local as well.:)

Lousy for wombling unless you attack the bins! The car park is so clean.

In the past have found the 4p socks, dressing gowns, boxers and the leisure wear, but it is a nightmare getting past the trouts. If they spot the 4p items they take them off you.:(:(

I haven't been there much recently due to better prices at A. but am going tomorrow for a bit of a browse.:)

  • Evening all. Just wanted to say hello. Been away and busy at work so not been on for a week or so. Sorry the APG glitch has finished but I did some stocking up so am happy to have managed to take advantage and save a few quid.

As for Asda quality v Tesco quality, I have always found Tesco veg pretty rubbish to be quite honest. Most of it goes manky within a week kept in the fridge, since changing to Asda, the same stuff keeps a week or more in the same fridge.

As for smartprice stuff being vile, I can't believe some people really believe this! You will find a lot of the value/smartprice type ranges are packed in exactly the same factories with exactly the same products in exactly the same tins.

As for bacon, I find the same applies to ALL supermarket value and standard bacon. The premium ones at all supermarkets tend to be better, yes you do tend to get what you pay for, but I don't find Tesco bacon any better or worse than Asda's.

I've been in some rank stores of all companies. What I do like about Asda is if a product is on promo I can buy one say at £1. In Tesco it stays at £2 and is BOGOF. I don't necessarily want two, I'd rather have the choice of buying the one or stocking up. Half price is better than same price but BOGOF.

Ultimately we all have our preferences. I find Tesco dull and uninteresting. Asda I find more enjoyable and the staff are indeed much friendlier in my local store, but again you can find exceptions to every rule. Tesco CS are often truly horrible - rude, disbelieving, grudging and miserable. That's my general experience but there are exceptions everywhere which people can seize on to say otherwise.
If I had a pound for every pound I'd lost, I'd be confused
