Do you spend more on Birthdays or Christmas?

As the title says really.

I am curious to see which is the more important celebration for people, especially when it comes to kids.

Personally I spend more on my girls birthdays than Christmas as that is their special day and something really worth celebrating.

My boyfriend and I are just having it out as we were both brought up with getting more at Christmas than our birthdays, he wants it to stay the same.

For my children I spend more on their present at Christmas, as I add a party/treat/experience to their gift on their birthdays. For everyone else I spend the same amount regardless.

  • My boyfriend and I dont give each other christmas presents, we either buy ourselves a joint present or go out for a nice meal. But then both our birthdays are quite close to christmas so it works out nicely.
  • Birthdays - we also actively avoid Christmad and would happily work through if it were possible but it seems we always work for companies that close for a week or so.
If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.

    Birthdays by a smidgeon.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.
  • I think it's about equal, but I'd rather spend more on birthdays. We probably tend to go the other way and spend more at xmas though, as DH's family go all out at xmas and it seems to be a bit of 'keeping up with the Joneses' on that front. Which I hate - I'm not interested in keeping up with anyone! Except the alternative there is feeling like a cheapskate. Might have words with BIL to see if we can agree to curb spending between us - I don't think I have any chance convincing the MIL to do that though!

Exception is special/big birthdays, we always make a fuss on big birthdays.

It's about the same unless it's a big birthday.
