BBC website - lawyer trying to force banks to reveal costs
Comments
-
Well.... its an incredibly noble thing to do, using £100,000 of your own money as a guarantee to meet costs when taking action against this bank (dying to know who it is
), with no financial gain for yourself even if you win !!
Now with £100,000 at my disposal, I could pay off the mortgage, pay off my nieces and nephews student loans, and have a bit left to invest. Ah well....
Pam
I could pay off my debts, buy my kids clothes, buy a memorial tree in memory of my mum & put a deposit on a house instead of renting all the time, but hey ho, if there is a vacancy left after you get a job there Pam put a good word in for me0 -
maybe ejones had enough of us customers and wants a quite life.
or maybe owns shares of her employer and this is not good news.
or maybe is having trouble getting a pay rise because of all this.
when bank staff learn their place, treat customers like customers and work on saturdays i might start respecting them.
in the mean time it's open season on them ( them being the ones who think they important and above us "little people") and there employers. quite right too .Better in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:0 -
By Nathan SpleenI'm just helping in a champertouscapacity.

Yes i do.
Sundays, bank Holidays and xmas as well, i,m not moaning i get payed a lot of money for working these days. i love not being 9-5 mon- fri. in fact i,m off to work 14-22pm today ( easter monday) , i doubt i will find any branch open downtown will i ??? but i bet Argos , Boots and Greggs to name just a few are open.
i have yet to see my branch of Lloyds TSB open on a saturday , the queue outside it,s ATM's in town center on a Saturday morning actually blocks the pavemant so other pedstrians have to walk on the road. why do banks think they can have the day when they will see the most customers off ????.
also the call center shuts down at 5pm from my experiance.
thank god for FD for none weekend people like myselfBetter in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:0 -
I think that you bank with the wrong bank, then. Maybe you should change banks rather than tarring them all with the same brush?
We were in town on Good Friday and at least some bank branches were open.0 -
Can I also point out that in Natwest/RBS call centres staff work Xmas, Bank holidays etc for no extra pay as this is deemed to be part of their contracted hours, so for instance it's Easter Monday but if you normally work on a Monday you will be expected to work as usual for no extra pay!
Please remember that Bank staff are ordinary people, who do a fairly low paid job which is often a thankless task. In all customer service jobs you will come across the occasional person who shouldn't work with the public but please don't tar them all with the same brush! Thanks to all who post comps :A :T0 -
Fair enough and good points,
i react very badly to anyone trying to impose authority on me when they don,t have the right. Unfortunatly i get a lot in bank branches ( barclays and Lloyds ) so i tend to stick the boot in.
if your a good bank employee don't be offended , for the glass housed pompus ones ( Barclays branch manager for example) , expect more of the sameBetter in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:0 -
Has anyone else other than the BBC covered this story?? Is it a BBC barrister that is doing this as part of a journalism feature for them??? Just seems odd to reclaim 2,500 fee's, be offered 4,000 and reject it whilst putting future career in the vice. Personally I don't believe this will be settled on fri 13th (ominous date itself...coincidence?) and will drag a little while before a final result is fixed. If this fails the implications will be MAMMOTH and goodbye to the OFT investigation. If he wins, well, this will be equally mammoth, but only if the lawyers dont manage to get some punitive clauses onto the final verdict to try and safeguard themselves. Plus, if this chap has proof that charges do not exceed 2.50 (other than BBC [again] whistleblowing prog) then why doesnt he just launch them into the public domain for everyone and let the banks sweat on fighting multiple (or even class) actions all at the same time thus ensuring greater power for claimants?
I'm sorry, but i smell something foul in the air. But i sincerely hope this lad's story is true and if true, i hope he wins, for all our sakes.... now and in the future.Sorry but please keep your signature to 4 lines in length - MSE Forum Team 20 -
