Affordable mobiles.co.uk

Hi there,

Can I port my mobile number from tesco mobile to O2 using affordable mobiles?

If so how as I've never used a third party site?

And are they any good???

Yes you can, I've used them for a deal but it wasn't a cashback one. Emails replied to very quick

    O2

Contact your existing network to obtain a PAC (Port Authorisation Code). The handset you bought from us will be connected with a temporary number. On receipt of the handset, contact 02 on 0870 241 0202 quoting your temporary number, existing number and PAC. You will be advised of a transfer date, usually within 5 - 7 working days

affordable mobiles is just the place you buy the handset / contract from.

They don't deal with the porting your number, i think every network allows you to port in and out.

Just buy the contract, phone tesco and ask for a PAC, they should give it to you over the phone, when you receive your contract phone, phone up 02, give them the PAC tesco gave you and your number will be moved.

Used affordable mobiles for both my previous phones / contract, cheaper than going direct with a network, and the phones were delivered next day. Other than that, had no contact with them.

Ok, thank you that's cool, the thing is I've never used third party suppliers before, just transferred direct.

  • Hi all, Is it also normal of them to suddenly want your passport number and driving license details, althought they have already confirmed your order has ben accepted, by them, and the network? They emailed me about this a day after telling me all was completed and my ordr would be sent to me the next day. Still no delivery though.
  • They will usually ask for proofs of some kind, usually proof of who you are, and also where you live. Reason is to prevent fraud, and if you default on payment, the network provider can claw back the commission they receive for the sale.
  • Rubbish. I have had scores of such contracts and never once been asked for a single thing. They can find most of those things out themselves in the usual ways.
  • It depends on retailer and network. Agreed that with credit cards and CVV2 checks the above is unnecessary, but if the retailer has been hit for fraud recently, they may be insisting on extra proofs.
  • I've used this retailer more than once, most others on the internet many times and had innumerable contracts on all but the 3 network.

Why not send them a set of your keys at the same time and let them know what hours you are out of the house too :rotfl:

I've never been asked for such detail when getting a phone in all the years I've had them.
It's not just about the money
