Good evening
I have cooked dinner for 4 monsters, and played at being referee for same monstersThey have gone home now :j All toys picked up, coffee table & dining table polished, door handles wiped, hall mirror cleaned (had lots of little hand marks!) DW emptied & run on clean cycle. Now restacked
DH cooked dinner. Not too bad after a busy day.
I have a question that is totally off topic
Has anyone had any experience of teenagers with depression? I thought I had a stroppy teenager, but I think it goes deeper than thatShe has been in tears this afternoon (during the bedlam of feeding time at the zoo!) saying that she is sad, and has been for ages? Should I take her to the GP? Am I over reacting?

If I get time to read, it is normally Nursery World Magazine or a text book! DS really enjoyed it though. MM is a good comedian for kids to see (not too young though!) as he doesn't swear excessively and is not too rude
Ah, so you have got your priorities right, then! Good for you - who needs a controlling nit-wit in their life?;)
Oooh that's a good descriptionAs is 'immature t*sspot' as suggested by another friend :T
Car failed its MOT on headlight alignment and a missing clip which costs £2! £30.... W@&£)£s

Dailies done. Time spent with friends. I am happy

I work in mental health but dont have experience with children or young adults, so hopefully someone more knowledgeable will be along to help out shortly! But I would say that you should take her. Depression is a difficult condition to manage at any age and to be young with little life experience to apply to managing it must be tough. A trip to the GP cant hurt xxSometimes lurking, sometimes posting, but always flying

GI big hugs for you both. Depression in teenagers is quite common I believe, I read about it somewhere. One of mine is quite fragile in some ways. Obviously it can be hormones and a tendency to over react in some of them. I would not go rushing to the GP but try to monitor it over the next week or two ie could AF be due tomorrow - makes me very tearful and prone to a bit of the OE tbh. May be try to arrange something 'nice' to do etc and see if that raises a smile. If things don't improve then suggest the GP. How old is she?The birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair0

Thanks ladies
She is 17. She said she has felt sad for monthsWe have had a holiday in Florida - you can't get much more of a treat than that! There were times on holiday that she was withdrawn or distracted, but TBH we put it down to 'being a teenager' (and she usually had her iphone on her at those times!) I have asked her if she can pinpoint it to a particular time/event, but she can't. I may watch her more closely this week, and make an appointment sooner rather than later.

Hi all been trying to post on here for over an hour on the pc but it wasn't playing so I've hijacked the iPad from DS2.
Dinner of homemade soup made and decluttered and washed up, more WM and TD, homework with kiddies done, my bed remade, consent form for pantomime for DD filled out, packed lunch for DD made, DS2 is home lunch tomorrow not that he knows that yet! DS1 can do whatever it is that he does at college ! BiL phoned asked him to pay my book order at his work (OH work too) tomorrow that's 2 more Christmas pressies, I have a tablet on layaway for DD and a drum kit for DS2 at 0% interest and only have a couple of more weeks to pay then I will be up to 4 !!!
I will see you all in the morning off to bed with my book!I'm not a muggle...I'm just magically challenged0 -

not got experience as such but I suffered from depression from about 12/13 years. I would say you know your daughter best if she is out of character and has been for some time I think a visit to your GP might be helpful x HTH xI'm not a muggle...I'm just magically challenged0 -

If she can say she's been sad for months then I would take her to GP asap; it is difficult to verbalise feelings when clinically depressed so if she open up now then take/help her. I have long history of depression on and off since early teens - hindsight is a wonderful thing - parents didnt understand, in 70s/80s it was taboo... pm me if you need. Much love xx
ETA not being able to pinpoint to a particular time/event is totally normal with depression*If you have nothing nice to say... say nothing*"Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that." Martin Luther King Jr0
