No buying unnecessary toiletries in October

Does anyone remember me?
I stopped doing this challenge for a while due to being pregnant and just generally not being well enough to carry on with it. I'm still pregnant (30 weeks. Eeek!) and still not well with the M.E but thought I would give it a go again.
Will try and see if I can find my list! I have loads of things to add to it due to various comp wins!
Hi LadyM great to see you again. How time flies - can't believe you are now 30 weeks' pregnant. Take care - love Val xI ventured onto the parking thread about hassle I'm getting with my car  OMG they are a bit mean over there and TBH not exactly the help I was looking for. So I'm back here for some niceness please
I have gone 2 months without any bought INS :A:T I do have 1 IN today from Instyle magazine subscription of a Benefit bronzer. I also see Marie Claire has a l'occtaine handcream in their next isue. I haven't tried but but heard a lot of people on here raving about it but the magazine costs £3.70 so maybe give this a miss. I have quite a few BS hemp hand cream and especially with the cold will be using them first.
I know what you mean about other threads on MSE - some of the folks are so vicious! Although I have bought things I have not bought any mag "freebies" for ages and am thinking that I'll go for both the Benefit and L'occitane ones. I bought a bottle of Sun Beam on holiday and it's fab. I never really have much luck with the tints as I think my skin is too olive toned for them but don't mind getting a freebie of it to try rather than splurge on a full bottle so won't mind which one of these I get. I don't have any handbag hand creams in stash so will be nice to get a new L'Occitane one. Would be nice if they gave away the lavender one for a change. Mind you I would then buy more than one as this is my HG L'Occitane hand cream.I think we all have a different take on this really - most people count anything as 'unnecessary' if they've already one or more of those products in their stash. Some count everything in, some don't count essentials such as toothpaste etc. Depends what works for you, there's no hard and fast rules really, whatever suits
I don't count what everyone would consider essential as unnecessary ie toothpaste, soap, deodorant although I know some people do as they have stashed these in the past. I suppose it depends on what your inner demon makes you buy most of. For me it used to be QVC TSV kits so I ended up hoarding loads of skincare. I seem to have got a handle on this better because of this challenge but now can't seem to stop hoarding shower gels/body butters. I do always treat myself to new nail lacquers but I don't count these as INs as they are a treat to me.
I have 2 UUs:-
15ml tube of Elemis Neck and Bust Cream. WBA. I love using this when I've been away and my decollete (sp??) has suffered sun damage. I think I have another in my stash drawer but failing that know that there are 2 x 15ml tubes coming my way at Christmas.
Small bottle of conditioner that came with my hair colour pack. Wasn't anything special.
Have just bobbed online to check my email messages. I usually do this on the go on the way to work but my phone wouldn't connect at all yesterday. Shame really because it would have saved me getting the wrong bus to work! Got on one that I knew went through another district before getting to Hyde. Asked the bus driver what time we would get to Hyde and considered I had time so got onboard. Never again. This bus went all around a housing estate with two primary schools on it. Oh yes the traffic was awful due to the school run! Mind you that's nothing compared to the night before when I got on the completely wrong bus to come home and ended up doing a round tour of another area of Tameside that I hadn't particularly wanted to visit! :rotfl:
Anyway I digress. Checked my emails this morning and have received one from Philosophy advertising their new Fall fragranced shower gels. There's a new Pumpkin Pie one being released. You ladies know my feeling/obsession about this Philosophy fragrance so I'll say no more.
Have just repainted my nails and am wearing OPI Deutsche You Want me Baby. Have a new jumper in this colour also that I'm planning to wear today.
Will have a proper wander around town at lunch today I think. I spotted a Bodycare shop yesterday and have already visited Wilkinsons. The Boots is a bit small for my liking though. :rotfl:Back for the No Buying Toiletries challenge. I pledge to only buy when I run out of a product that is not already in my stash no matter what wonderful emails land in in my Inbox or threads I read on MSE re: glitches!

Must step away from the rack in the drug store.
Made this startling discovery when I put all the cleanser type stuff in a separate box.
My secret attack plan is finish the 25 pack, start a smaller one and then finish it in Vegas. I'm pinning a lot on the Vegas trip, have a bag of samples to take. Does anybody know what the toilletries are like in the Venetian? I'm hoping they are cheap and nasty! But Sephora and CVS aren't that far away, neither is L'Occtaine. Sigh, flounce.
I'm in touch with imy inner teenaged girl today.
I texted my 14 year old yesterday saying "OMG they have a Bodycare shop here" which didn't win me any favours for being "cool" because she didn't know what Bodycare was. I realise that as your across the pond you won't know either. Bodycare is probably the equivalent of Target. The prices in there for essentials are brilliant compared to Superdrug and Boots who tend to just have price wars all the time and the customer IMO isn't saving much by going to either. Bodycare is cheaper whilst still selling top branded goods.
Wish we had Sephora and Ulta over here though. You are lucky in that respect. Enjoy your Vegas trip. xBack for the No Buying Toiletries challenge. It seems our male house guest is 'helping' me to use up my shampoo and showergel... I wonder if I left some other stuff (fake tan, waxing strips, cellulite gel) in the bathroom if they'd help with those too?!?!MFW: Nov 2008 £156k, Jun 2015 £129k, Jun 2017 £114k.0

:rotfl:I put all my shower gels into a separate box recently and was horrified, what is an acceptable number of shower gels? Is 100 OK?:eek:noelphobic wrote: »First UU of October - Dermalogica Ultracalming Cleanser 50ml
This was part of a Dermalogica starter kit that I bought a couple of years ago through a Groupon offer. I only started using it on holiday a few weeks ago and wasn't impressed at first. I used the moisturiser up while we were away, the cleanser has just 'died' but I think the toner will be a LHJ. My skin has been a lot better recently (I have rosacea, ezcema and acne, not the best of hat tricks!) but I just don't know whether it's anything to do with the products I am using.
In the past I have found that there are times when I treat my skin with tlc and it is awful and there are times when I neglect it shamefully and it thrives on it. I had a stubborn dry patch on my chin that just wouldn't budge and that has finally gone. However, my nose which is another problem area seems to be deteriorating again.
I've started using a Murad facial wash that came free with a magazine. If my skin gets worse again I just don't know whether it's worth paying for another Dermalogica kit or not. They have changed the formulation of some of their products anyway, so even if the cleanser is the HG the replacement might not be.
I know how you feel, maybe you could contact Dermalogica and ask for advice.noelphobic wrote: »I think lots of us have overdosed on S and G. It's like when you're a kid and you get a selection box and it looks wonderful. After the 7th bar or so you start to feel a bit sick!
I've got an S and G body lotion on the go now and everything I loved about it I now hate - the fragrance that I really liked just seems sickly, I liked the fact that it was in a spray but I seem to manage to miss my body (hard to imagine how, I'm not exactly skinny!) and I spend a lot of time cleaning it up off the floor - the body lotion, not my body lol!
On the other hand, I've nearly finished up a Boots Royal Jelly body lotion. I really didn't think much of it but today I've decided I quite like it! I think it's because I didn't put perfume on so could actually smell the body lotion and it has a really nice fragrance. I still have shower gel and bubble bath from the same set so will use them as a change from the LHJ of S and G Clean Girls!
That spray body lotion is lethal when you get it on the bathroom floor, I would not even have that one given again.
Have my first uu - Garnier 2 in 1 make up remover. I just used this for eyes and it did the job well although I did find it hard to get just what I needed out and ended up with some wastage each time. Bought these on 2 for £3 a while back so have another in the stash. Have replaced it with an Estee Lauder gentle one.
LadyM - good to see you back, hope the rest of you pregnancy goes well.
VALM - I like the sound of the new Philosophy autumn range, the pumpkin one and the spiced clementine toddy.Debt Free and now a saver, conscious consumer, low waste lifestyler

I have demoted the Boots Expert eye cream to my feet as it has gone offLife is a coin, you can spend it anyway you wish, but you can only spend it once.
Go as far as you can see, and when you get there you'll see further.

I hope your travelling will be less stressful today. I only ever got on completely the wrong train once, and managed to get off just 3 or 4 miles out from New Street Birmingham, unlike a colleague who lived East of Birmingham and ended up on a fast train so had to get off about 70 miles west and then wait ages for a train back, the guard was kind (a long time ago) and did not make her pay to get back, she eventually got home about 9pm, much to the annoyance of her OH, who was most put out at having to feed himself and children.
I get a bit fed up sometimes about our teeny Boots and no Superdrug, but reckon it saves me a fortune, as I only buy meds, or absolute essentials like deo and toothpaste:rotfl:The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)0 -
