No buying unnecessary toiletries in October

Thanks everyone:) Gift guide is in store now, haven't looked at it yet but think most of the things I saw in store didn't really appeal so I'm hoping I won't start buying much. I'll be hanging around, I think I'm cured of stashing but will stock up in sales of Lush and any Boots stuff thats a bargain, I kind of know how much I use now...that that much so hopefully I can buy accordingly! Bday is coming at the end of month and have asked for a few treats so there will def be a few things to keep me going coming in:)Debt free and busy treating myself:)
No more toiletries/make up until I've used what I've got stashed since Jan 2011, graduated October 2012. Restocked Dec 13..damn those sales0 -
Hello!
I'm so sorry that I went AWOL. I've missed being here and am very much IN for October. I fell down a bit of a health black hole after the stress of my incapacity reassessment. I still don't know the outcome :eek:Sorry for the length of this catch-up post...
Hugs to those that have been struggling, especially Maddiemay (I hope your ankle heals quickly) and Indiepanda (I'm so sorry that your OH didn't get his visa. I hope that you can appeal?)
SeasideDreamer - WELL DONE!!! :T :T :T
I have some belated OUTS to declare:
SEPTEMBER
78. Botanics Body Butter (50ml) - WNBA as they've changed the formula & upped the price
79. Decleor Aroma Cleanse Tonifying Lotion (75ml) - WBA (HG)
80. Decleor Aroma Cleanse Cleansing Milk (75ml) - WBA (HG)
81. Soap & Glory The Righteous Butter (300ml) - WBA in the far future!
82. Weleda Pomegranate Creamy Body Wash (204g, new) (SOLD WNBA)
83. Elemis Apricot Soothing Toner (200ml) - lovely but not as good as Decleor on my skin.
OCTOBER
84. Bliss Fabulips softening lip balm - WNBA. So pleased this is finished! Completely overpriced & not very good.
85. Pout Super Balm - no longer made, which is a shame
My OUTS are slow and I'd like to reach 100 by the end of the year. I'm getting better at stopping the INs but...
I bought a 400ml Decleor Aroma Cleanse Milk and I have a 400ml Decleor Tonifying Lotion on the way - both much reduced/with extra discount and (I think) my HGs.
I also cracked and bought Origins Peace Of Mind as it came with excellent freebies (15ml Youthtopia, 7mlo Mega Mushroom Relief, 5ml Plantscription Eye Treatment, 1.5ml Make A Difference Plus and free P&P)
I used the Weleda Pomegranate serum, day cream, night cream and eye cream all last month and still have loads left. I'm not sure they are right for my skin so I've switched to Pro Collagen Marine Cream for this month (I was saving this so I'm using it in the spirit of PRCP). PCMC experts - should I be using it day and night? I'm only using a tiny bit at a time. Also, should I still use a serum or oil with it or is it better to let it work by itself? (No dramatic results so far but I'll be interested to see what a full month of use does).
To help me reach 100 I have a box of things that I'm targeting:
Sanctuary Hydrating Toner, H&B almond oil, SteamCream, Bio-Oil, Dead Sea Mineral Body Lotion (75ml), Biotherm Skin-Ergetic night cream (15ml), Amie Spring Clean Cooling Clay Mask (10ml sachet, which will be 2-3 uses), REN Mayblossom Cleansing Gel (25ml, lovely!), REN Jojoba Microbead scrub (25ml, also lovely!), Benefit Dr Feelgood Lip balm (very old ), Rimmel Recover Perfect Skin primer (no longer made ), Origins GinZing eye cream (my only Origins disappointment), C&E Citron Hand Therapy (25ml. Love this)
Current shampoo is a 500ml bottle of Crabtree & Evelyn Jojoba shampoo that can last for ever as far as I'm concerned :rotfl: I'm using a small bottle of VO5 Give Me Moisture conditioner that is great (thanks to VALM for mentioning the VO5 range in such glowing terms)
Shower gel is Korres Mango at the moment which is lovely (it smells of coconut to me! :rotfl:) Maddiemay - I was disappointed with the Korres Lemon & Basil as it smelt a bit like washing up liquid to me. It wasn't zingy enough for my nose. I only had 50ml and I ended up using it to clean my make-up brushes with.
Body lotion is whatever takes my fancy (hence slow UU!) and I've switched to Lancome Midnight Rose perfume having tried (and failed) to use up my Dior J'Adore Summer EDP. (I'll look forward to using it again next Summer - the 100ml bottle goes a very long way...)
Ummmm. That's it! Thank you if you've read this far! :rotfl: I think I'm going to need this forum to get past all the Christmas special offers that are popping up already  I'm planning to buy a perfume and a YSL Glossy Stain for a special occasion this month. Hopefully that is all...0 -
Congratulations seasideDreamer! Welcome to the graduate club!
Hope you fee better soon Willowbee and that your assesment went the way you want it to go.
OH bought me the Marie Clare magazine with the free L'Occitane hand cream because he knows my Nails Inc one is getting low. He also got me the In Style magazine with the Cha Cha tint but I think I might try and pass that on to someone else, I'm not really a tint kind of person, I find they dry before I can blend them out properly.

Welcome back willowbee, it's good to see you again.
I use PCMC but only as a day cream. I prefer a thicker cream at night and at that time I add either an oil or a serum to the mix. Have been using PCMC for about 8 years now and can tell the difference if I don't use it.
Glad you like the V05 as well. It's still a HG in our house too. xBack for the No Buying Toiletries challenge. I pledge to only buy when I run out of a product that is not already in my stash no matter what wonderful emails land in in my Inbox or threads I read on MSE re: glitches!

UU Soap & Glory Spray on Moisturiser. I got it free in one of those massive Xmas gift sets. Smells lovely but not sure if actually doesn't anything! Wouldn't buy again but would happily use again if it came in another set.
In other beauty news, I'm coming scarily close to using up all my NARS Orgasm blusherIt's going to be hard to use something cheaper after using that but I will downgrade until I'm debt free then I'll go running back!

I heard that adding a small amount of baking soda to your shampoo once every 2 weeks helps. I tried it once and I did like it, but I always forget to do this.
Thanks tokkiandoliver - haven't heard of this before. I will need to add baking soda to my shopping list.seasideDreamer wrote: »Thanks everyone:) I must agree toiletries are a bit like a comfort blanket and its very sad to see my pretty empty hat boxes and more to the point if BF sees they are empty he might make me part with them eeek where's the Boots book;)

Massive congrats seasideDreamer. Enjoy all your newly made space. I am sure you will find something nice to fill your hat boxes (that isn't toiletries).
Welcome back Willowbee. Fingers crossed that all the stress of the assessment ordeal is behind you and you get the outcome you want tomorrow.
Absolutely nothing doing in the UU front here.

I've finally figured out how to do multi-quotes! Hurrah! :jWelcome back Willowbee. Fingers crossed that all the stress of the assessment ordeal is behind you and you get the outcome you want tomorrow.

Thank you both for the welcome backIt's really very nice to be here again
Fiasco - I meant to say that I'm amazed & impressed by your no buy record! :T Is this your third month?
VALM - thank you for the PCMC advice. The first couple of days that I used it my skin stung and went red but it's fine now. I think my skin must have been having a reactive moment & it wasn't the PCMCs fault.
I'm amazed (and a little shocked) by how much stuff I still have left that I bought in the Jan sales last year. I got the PCMC in a reduced Elemis kit and it's taken me this long to try it. I suppose that it's a sign that I've been 'good' and have been using older things up first but it's still a bit shocking...0 -

It's only because we've had a bit of a tough time the last couple of weeks and he's trying to be a bit more attentive. Plus I've come down with a cold so he went and got me the magazines for something to read while I'm tucked up in bed!
Mockingjay - I would actually probably re-purchase Nars Orgasm, because those blushes do last ages and you know it's something you're going to use. Therefore you don't waste money on trying cheaper things that don't hold up half as well when you could have just bought the blush in the first place!
Have compiled the list of makeup that I have with me here and it's over 4 pages in Word! Plus I have a LOT more at my parents still...I don't think I'm ever going to need to buy eyeshadow or blush again!Emergency Fund - £8572.39 / £10,000 :: Mortgage OP 2025 - £LISA 24/25 - £3200 / £4000 :: NSD 2025 - 2 / 150 :: Books Read: 1 / 52 :: Decluttering - 4 / 1000Engaged 9th December 2010 :: Married 29th October 2015 :: Bought a House 13th January 20170 -

So pleased to see you back, I had assumed that your assessment had taken it's toll:(. I have been mentally sending you positive thoughts, but after mum being ill, holiday and now my op I am so disgustingly in arrears with keeping in contact with everyone, I need to make supreme effort, also to tackle the paperwork mountain that has taken over:eek:The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time.
