No UU to report, but I had a NPI yesterday and I was impressed it didn't become an IN, I had some really bad news on Thursday (my fiance's visa appeal was denied, so he's still stuck overseas) and my usual response would be to buy something to treat myself.

There was a nice make up kit in benefit in boots in coral colours - eye shadow, blush lip gloss etc. But when I thought about it, I have a nice bobby brown one with similar eye shadows and glosses, and separate blushes that are a similar colour. So I replaced it on the shelf and left.

Now that Trudi's given the green light to Lush, I feel less guilty about using my Lush solid shampoo (Seanik). It's lasting forever though ...!

Lush supported an animal rights organisation that had proven links to some sickening criminal activities. Apparently they no longer do, nor are they actively anti-greyhound any more.

Well, I couldnt see either the HSA or the greyhound ridicuolousness anywhere advertised (or in the magazine - they have a whole page of who they have supported, and neither factor there!) so either they are but are keeping incredibly quiet about it, or they are not actively supporting either - to be honest, thats good enough for me ;) Im quite liking the shampoo now, having not been sure - at £9 a tub its not cheap  but having said that, you dont need much, and i dont feel that i need conditioner either, so its probably much of a muchness cost wise. LOVE the facemask though, really does feel nice (but again, cost is a bit ) but im not liking the hair mask, it feels horrible when i put it on,probably becuse its meant to go on dry hair, and my hair doesnt feel all that different when i wash it off. hopefully will finish that tonight when i have my bath after i get in from work.

Two IN this morning - got Marie Claire and plumped for the Mango Flower variant of the hand cream after a little deliberation, also came with Dove Colour Radiance conditioner. No Instyle at all in the two nearest newsagents, will pop to Tesco later to see if they've any (mag is on offer, cheaper in there) to see if I can lay my hands on any of the Benefit 'freebies'

so would you wear it with other make up or would it look OK just on its own?

You can do either its really just a gold version of hi beam. So browbones and cheekbones. Would look lovely with bare tanned skin I expect but I would wear it over foundation at this time of year.

Forgot to say WB to Ruby_Eskimo. Thanks for the clarification, Trudi.

Freebies... This time last year I would have legged it to Mr T's to get the Marie Claire, but I don't need the freebies, and whilst it's not a bad read, much of the mag isn't relevant to me.

I think that's why She went out of business a few years ago, it was a great read in my late twenties and thirties, and probably a lot of other baby boomers thought so too. But when my children were grown up articles on toddlers had less appeal.

Beeg mistake on the hair front the other day that I forgot to mention. I decided to use dry shampoo to save a bit of time, as you do, and picked up a brand called Hot Tin Roof.

This had slightly different instructions to Batiste (shake can until it rattles, continue shaking , then spray on roots and work through hair for two minutes before brushing out.) I sprayed, worked through, then brushed my teeth whilst waiting before brushing out.

I brushed, oh boy did I brush, - it seemed to cling to my hair, which is very straight, very fine, was slightly greasy and lies a little below chin length.

If I'd tried washing it out I had visions of it forming a sticky coating on my hair, as most of these products are starch-based.

Fifteen minutes work with brush and fine tooth comb later, I was still looking greyer but it didn't look ridiculous. I can wash and dry my hair inside 10 minutes easily.

Now I've used Batiste before with no problems, though I do also have a puffer pack of dry shampoo which isn't that brilliant, given that it's just cornflour and talc essentially. I should have known better before buying it.
    I hate TA's but I think I'll have a couple.

Estee Lauder Nutritious Mineral Makeup Sample - Have one more of these to go and think it is approaching HG status for an everyday foundation. It is a perfect match colour wise, and the finish and coverage are perfect. Only downside is that it does wear off my face during the day so I want to try the Double Wear version of this to see if that will help. Have one more mini sample pot to go of this first though which will probably last me a couple of months again!

Double Wear is amazing. Your face is going nowhere, and you won't need a primer! I didn't realise they did a mineral version...I shall have to investigate!

WOW!!!!!! I was going to say that room sprays don't count as toiletries but I realised I have a candle 'habit' that is probably just as bad - unless you ALSO have a candle habit :D

I have some candles but I wouldn't call it a habit :rotfl:

    Hi Guys

I have been using this product (batiste dry shampoo) for about 4 months, its very good if your on the go and dont have the time to wash and dry your hair however after using it every week or so (sometimes every other day if i have a busy week) i have started to notice my hair is falling out. Not drastically but still falling out, its thinner and the areas it seems to be thinner is where the product was used (around the forehead and top of head)

I have since researched this product as it DOES NOT state anywhere on its packaging that you should not use weekly etc. It does not give you any idea of how often you can use this product which really concerns me. I have always had lovely, healthy and fairly thick hair. Now it's thin and falls out easily when showering.

Apparently a few websites (health related websites) say that if used frequently this kind of product can impact on hair loss as the ingredients used to make it can leave fatty acids on your scalp resulting in slow hair loss. This is very worrying to me.

What should i do? Of course i have stopped using the product but i feel that the company should have some sort of notice on their labelling/packaging with user instructions which it doesnt??

Has anyone else suffered with this problem?

Will never use the stuff again. :(
  • Hello everyone on this lovely sunny Saturday. Haven't been around much this week as we have been busy looking round secondary schools as we need to apply now for DD1 ready for next Sept - she is 11 today and I don't know where the time has gone.

I have now caught up with all the posts and have some more UUs to declare:

Clinique moisture surge - this was a GWP but was very handy as I was using a S&G face wash in the summer which seemed fine at first but did dry my skin. I fished this out of the stash and it was great in putting some moisture back in to my skin. WMBA as it is a lovely product but I do need to make a serious dent in my moisturiser stash before buying anything else to add to the hoards.

Margaret Dabbs intensive foot moisturising lotion - WBA - absolutely adore this. However, I have found an Elemis and a LE foot cream in my stash along with some MD foot oil so I am going to UU them first before investing in more MD lotion. (This is amazing progress for me...)

Models Prefer safari spice lip liner - threw away as this was really hard and didn't glide on - it really dragged across my lips and the colour was a bit too dark for me as well. It might be because it is so old (this brand has become YBF but some Q customers may remember MP.)

Will also need to report some INs as my pumpkin patch swap arrived this week - thanks my lovely swap buddy :D. Will probably be tomorrow when I declare them as we are off out for a celebratory meal tonight then back for Strictly and X Factor.

VALM - I like the sound of the new Philosophy autumn range, the pumpkin one and the spiced clementine toddy.

I like the sound of the Candy Corn one as well myself. I'm pretty sure that Philosophy have never had a UK site before so if all else fails I will order one of the Pumpkin Pie shower gels from them direct although I'm hoping QVC will stock them. Can't see any Philosophy shows coming up this month which is good as I really need to stock up on my cleanser, exfoliator and night cream. Will probably order my cleanser later as the discounted offer runs out tomorrow on this.

I hope your travelling will be less stressful today. I only ever got on completely the wrong train once, and managed to get off just 3 or 4 miles out from New Street Birmingham, unlike a colleague who lived East of Birmingham and ended up on a fast train so had to get off about 70 miles west and then wait ages for a train back, the guard was kind (a long time ago) and did not make her pay to get back, she eventually got home about 9pm, much to the annoyance of her OH, who was most put out at having to feed himself and children.

I get a bit fed up sometimes about our teeny Boots and no Superdrug, but reckon it saves me a fortune, as I only buy meds, or absolute essentials like deo and toothpaste:rotfl:

Travelling was better the rest of the week thanks maddiemay. Where I work now there is a B&M, 2 x pound shops, Bodycare and Wilkinsons as well as Boots and Superdrug. I've told MrM and Emma that there's no way that I'm buying toiletries within the supermarket shop anymore.
I checked out the upcoming Liz Earle TSV and I think my money is safe this time so hoping not to have too many 'ins' this month

    happy pampering, xo

Yes, I checked this out as well. I am getting low on IBST as well as Skin Repair Moisturiser and am planning to buy these items direct from LE or from JL whenever I need them unless there is a brilliant offer on them elsewhere in the meantime.
Back for the No Buying Toiletries challenge. I pledge to only buy when I run out of a product that is not already in my stash no matter what wonderful emails land in in my Inbox or threads I read on MSE re: glitches!
