Warning about rawhide chews at B&M Bargains

I too saw this on Facebook & before sharing I wanted to check the validity. While I have been unable to find anything that confirms THIS story I did come across this link that confirms the dangers of rawhide & will no longer be giving our 3 dogs rawhide.

It explains how as it is not classed as food there is no regulation over its consumption, how Rawhide expands in the stomach causing potentially fatal blockages in the digestive tract!! Well worth reading & perhaps another member can post the link

We buy ours neck sinews and pizzles from Zooplus - I've heard that the rawhide chews are made in China and they are not so strict about what goes in them. Mind you, I've no evidence that the ones we have swapped them for are any better! It's a minefield......

I've had a few relatives who's dogs have died from rawhide chews getting stuck in the throat so mine never have anything like this, Im very wary about pigs ears as well so he usually has a Jumbone for a treat as I can say with certainty he wont choke on that.

Yes one of our dogs choked on a piece of a rawhide chew, thankfully not fatally, we've always avoided them since.

It was an aunts elderly poodle that choked and died, and the littermate of my late Nana's Yorkie died at 12 weeks choking on a rawhide. I really don't like them one bit.

BM do a chocolate bone which seems to be a cereal type thing which Bob loves though.
