Yeah they will be at the moment they know they have you by the b***s even if Orange was to let you unlock the phone they will still charge you
Also be carefull with the £20 offer that might just be a jailbreak and when you try to update the phone it will lock it again
You want factory unlock which means it goes though Iphones server and will be unlocked for good....you can then update the phone when the new software updates comes out.Nobody is Perfect. I am Nobody, therefore I am Perfect.

If they are charging less than £50 for an iPhone 5 official unlock, odds are its a scam.
You have 2 (safe) choices, pay the £50+ to someone to access apples list of unlocked phones and add yours, or wait 3 months and pay Orange £20 (and then wait another 7-21 days for them to process it).====0 -
Yes in description it does say not a jail break , but when all others are wanting £60+ & them £20 makes you a bit cautiousYeah they will be at the moment they know they have you by the b***s even if Orange was to let you unlock the phone they will still charge you

Thank grumbler I had looked at your thread earlier and will refer back to your link when Im deciding what to do
Something to consider is how iPhones are locked.
Most phones are locked in the handset, ie you enter a code and thats that. It's possible to re-lock them over the air but unlikley.
As SDDUK mentioned Apple do thinks differently. Apple lock the iPhone by setting a flag in their phone database that is checked during every sync with iTunes.
Even if it's not jailbroken to unlock it bear in mind if you go down any unoffical route there is always the possibility that a future sync with iTunes (not just when you do an update) could see the iphone being re-locked to the original carrier.0
