Pretty much spot on, Thank you. I didnt list that as an expense for fuel and maintenance in the same way that i didnt list my travel expense as an income.0 -

Did anybody read where my savings went or are most of you just tagging onto the end of a thread? Please be more informed before responding0

Car insurance, life insurance (for the benefit of my child) and contents insurance.
And Yes I did consider the implications of a child when I was in a relationship, owned a house and was earning £40k a year. Situations change and we make the best of it. I was asking for advice not a sanctimonious response from someone that has no information whatsoever. Yes I have a partner who is not the childs mother and also doesnt live with me.this is my problem not hers. I was asking for information.
No I dont have sky, cable or broadband. I have a mobile because that is essential as i have no land line. Its PAYG and limit myself to £15 per month as this gives me a WiFi connection too.
I have no idea what NWM is but I have nothing out of the ordinary. I have a 19" TV in the living room with freeview, a car to allow myself transport to and from work, sofa to sit on and a bed to sleep in. I hardly think this is excessive.
Thanks for you ill informed response though, made my afternoon.
Looking forward to your response though, should be interesting!!??
My response is a simple one, you see the "?" in my posts? They indicate me asking a question not making an accusation.
NMW = National Minimum Wage. (Edit: that was your typo not mine!)
How is a set of questions an ill informed response? I have been on MSE long enough to see lots of people whinge about their financial situations but not sensible enough to make the right decisions. See this thread I was posting on just today being an absolute shining example of what I mean: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4202051Thinking critically since 1996....0 -
Hi the original post was on Friday and, after being on the phone to them all morning, I still received no response from them. Not even a call to say that the situation had been acknowledged. I didnt email as I dont class this as an acceptable and timely form of communication as there is no confirmation of receipt or action.
As for the fuel situation, I was on fumes and was waiting for payday. I got paid but have all my bills set up to go out on the 28th as per my pay day which then allows me my "free money". What went in barely covered my rent let alone all the others. Bank has been really good about it though and has waived all charges for unpaid DD's.
Well that makes a little more sense now.
Did you have a word with your manager about the situation ? After all he may have been able to have had a word with a manager in HR who may have been more proactive or been able to authorise a petty cash payment2014 Target;

I call !!!!!!!!.
If you can eat properly and healthily on that amount then I would love to see an itemised shopping list for your "20 - 30" a month list!!! Please provide these details as i'm sure you will help a lot of people until then please keep your dream world opinions to yourself. I look forward to you proving me wrong and me apoligising.
£0.11 for 65g noodles. 2 packs per meal x 2 meals per day x 7 days x 4.4 for the month. That's £13.55. Add 2x £1.50 for 1kg frozen mixed vegetables from Tescos. That's £16.55 for the month at the moment. We have noodles and some mixed vegetables. How about a little meat? Add 2x Hessy's 10 hot dogs 350g from Tescos to the list for £0.99 each.
Each meal you can have 2 packs of the noodles with some mixed veg and a little bit of diced sausages. There's your meat, veg, egg extract and wheat. Currently £18.53 altogether. Still enough for a £1.18 4 pint milk which can last a whole week or more if you drink only a small cup each day.
That's £19.71 to eat relatively ok and healthily and have some milk in addition to plain water. It's not difficult to keep food spending low when you need money to travel for that 1 month before you get the wages back. Oh wait, it's still below £20... I still have another £10 to spend... maybe 2x £0.40 for long grain rice and something else. In other words, stop whining you can't survive. It's also just for a month. You won't die from malnutrition even if you ate and drank like this for a whole year... especially if you add a £3.99 60 caps of vitamin supplements to your list. I've ate like this during uni. I'm not underweight and have energy to participate in sports.
It's one thing claiming you can't survive on £20 a month eating well, another whining you can't buy your luxury foods and alcohol because you're not willing to cut down your costs to get to work.0 -
This is why employers are increasingly becoming relunctant to hire people living outside of walking distance (5 miles) from work.
Evidence please?Few people are capable of expressing with equanimity opinions which differ from the prejudices of their social environment. Most people are incapable of forming such opinions.0 -

That is not a healthy, balanced diet. No you won't die from it and for a short term fix (like the OP) it would be fine but long-term it's not an adequate diet.Save £200 a month : [STRIKE]Oct[/STRIKE] Nov Dec Jan Feb Mar Apr0 -

That's why I said £30-40 is more than enough for a month. Don't forget if you're buying for two people you'll be buying larger packs of food, saving money from bulk buying. £50 is actually quite a good budget for 2 persons to eat in a month.0
