Hi, my son just passed his test and im pretty impressed with his premium. he had been getting quotes from around 3000 to 5000 quid! but we tried elephant and put both his nan and grandad on there, basically put 2 really old drivers on there, he then selected 10 month policy. he is a proper car nut too and has lowered, put new wheels on his car basically changed everything and he has declared all of this and is paying £1200, so to any young motorists i reccomend trying this

Trouble with doing that is, if he were to have a bump your Mum and Dad would end up getting stung 'cos they'd have lost any no-claims.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,

Are you sure, even though their on the same policy. Well you live and learn.
What about the other way around, if the Nan or Grandad had a crash, would that go against the Son.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,

It wouldn't affect nan or grandad's policy if he had an accident. If they had an accident, I assume that he should really tell his insurance about it as they are named drivers?
Maybe?0 -
He will need to declare they had an accident but wont affect his policy.
Insurance is mad, if i add a female driver with several claims to my claim free policy my quote gets cheaper.
Work that one out. How can adding a risky driver lower the premium?Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
It is quite nuts these days.
I was shocked when I got a second car and found it was cheaper to insure it fully comp than TPFT.0 -

Wasn't there something on the news a few months back that they're going to have to stop making a distinction between men and women. I remember reading an article that said women can expect to pay more, it never mentioned that men could pay less instead.
Update:
I think this is what i may have read,

I have to say that my boyfriend also got the cheapest quote through elephant, he added my mum (over 50) as a named driver, and it was around £1600 the year for a 1l newish corsa0

Yeah this december they are supposedly going to stop the price difference, Just means it will go up for women as well. they may knock £5 off for a young male.
But probably not.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
