    At the end of the day a debit card should be a debit card and work everywhere IMO.

    But some customers need the control of a fully auth card.

    If we see accounts where the amount of card spending is constantly causing the customer to exceed their overdraft limit, and incur high fees every month, we would look at reissuing the existing card with a fully auth card to control the account.

    Unlike cheques, standing orders and direct debits, card payments can't be returned if the money isn't available to pay.
  • 15.3.4 If you have a Debit card that displays the Visa Debit logo and starts with the numbers 4751 16, you will only
    be able to use your card at a retailer or supplier of services where they can authorise the transaction with us at
    the time of the transaction being made. If this is not possible the transaction will be declined.
