I just phoned RBS digital banking and they said I am getting a restricted debit card with a GOld account - I am livid. So i called my local branch and explained to the chap and he said thats not true as with Gold accounts you have the full authorisation card. So he checked my account and read out that I do have the full auth card named and read from his screen 'VISA debit full authorisation'. He said the only other card that they offer which is a VISA restricted debit card is only available for the select silver. He said if i was not eligible for the full auth visa card I would of not been given the royalties gold account. He said he thinks the telephone banking operator must of got confused!

He said the new card begins with 4762 30 - so does anybody know if this BIN number is a full auth card? Thanks

He said to me if I do have problems with the card to go and speak to him again and confirmed I can use this card at petrol pumps, planes etc!

  • I have no idea what the restricted card is, but the Full Auth card is the online one, which seeks authorisation for every transaction and doesn't work on planes, trains etc. The other is the offline card, which only carries out simple checks to ensure it isn't lost/stolen.

The offline card is issued if you pass the credit score, but NatWest/RBS offer the full accounts with the online auth card as a mid point between issuing an offline card and the basic account.

But it doesn't seem they use this offline / online terminology like they do with Santander, so perhaps restricted card is the online card and full auth card is the offline card, but he said this is a full function card and I can use at pumps planes trains etc...my interpretation of full authorisation would be to seek authorisation all the time - if anyone knows if the BIN 4762 30 is an offline or online card then I know more than the staff at RBS

  • I assume your account is with an RBS branch outside of Scotland and your card is the RBS/Santander card

BIN 4762 30 is unfamiliar , 4751 17 is an RBS Debit card with cheque guarantee

    Yes based in England.

I goto this website https://www.bindb.com/bin-database.html but keeps saying maximum searches exceeded from my IP. I haven't had one successful search yet which is what I am trying to find out!! Can anyone else get the all the information from BIN 4762 30 and post it on here?

Wait till it comes and test it... rather than playing he said she said.

I always thought rbs/natwest cards started 4571 they must have new BINs now.

Yeah the guy at the branch said full auth cards come with the Gold accounts and the restricted cards are offered on select silver accounts. I will wait and see if this works at pay pumps then I will let you know

The person in branch is correct just because you have a gold account it does not mean you will get an off line debit card.

The guy in branch said that gold accounts come with the full debit card and the restricted card comes with the select silver account. He said if i did not qualify for the full function card he said I would of not been offered the gold account and would of been been given the select silver account as the restricted visa debit card is only offered on this account...

Tell the guy in branch hes a numpty as that is not totally correct. Back in the day of solo and maestro even gold customers could still be issued with a solo card. :D

If it makes you feel any better, when I first started working for the bank 9 years ago they only ever gave me a solo card for 3 years and I worked for the bank lol
