To be honest if it is a restricted card that I will just close the account down as my debit card with my bank is an offline card - no point going from that to a card that cannot be accepted at pay pumps etcHi, we’ve had to remove your signature. As you say if its restricted card throw it in the bin and write to them telling them you haven't just left school.0 -

Just because its full auth does not mean it doesn't work at pay pumps, my 17 year old lloyds debit card works at Pay @ pump.0 -
The 4762 30 is on my new basic account card that I use for my direct debits. Never use the card. Is the new card issue with new number something to do with the accounts being sold over to Santander?0

I'd hazard a guess that the vast majority of RBS retail staff, from cashiers to regional managers, would have no idea of the difference between cards and how to know the difference.
I've never seen any internal explanations for staff at all.0 -
I believe (I'll have to check) that the 4762 30 cards are part of the switch to Santander reissue. Is it contactless and does it have a short expiry date (when you get it)?
Visa Debit Full Auth cards do not work offline at pumps etc. It seems some bank staff mistake "full auth" to mean "it can be authorised anywhere" when actually it means "full authorisation must be carried out to permit the transaction."0 -
i have the 4762 30 Visa Debit card on a Select account. I believe this is the 'online' i.e 'restricted/full auth' card. It has the 31010 BIN though... as does my Barclays Visa Debit which isnt supposed to work offline but it does? (Used it on a train and it worked fine) I only use my RBS card in shops and stuff though and I dont drive so no idea if it works 'offline' or not..*The RK and FF fan club* #Family*Don’t Be Bitter- Glitter!* #LotsOfLove ‘Darling you’re my blood, you have my heartbeat’ Dad 20.02.200

At the end of the day a debit card should be a debit card and work everywhere IMO.0
