So, last week the contracts for the house up North came through, hubby and BiL signed them over the Easter weekend and, now they're still sitting on our kitchen table. I give up.
This evening an offer has come through for the big North London house. It's above the probate value which is good, they have cash buyers their end and a 30% deposit and apparently this is their second offer,  the agents didn't even inform hubby of the first one, just rejected on his behalf!! This is driving me nuts, and then BiL is like, ask for another £10k, we're like, no, then they'll want us to pay to remove the stairlift and other extras, honestly, it's a big house, needing some work, accept the offer and let them deal with it, stop it losing us even more money.

Grateful things are shifting but wow, BiL just doesn't get it and hubby is struggling with him again, It's not nice.

Well, they asked for the extra £10k and the buyers agreed so, offer accepted.
The contract for the other house up north is still sitting on our kitchen table, a week later. I bought some A4 envelopes as I have sneaking feeling this is what's been hindering hubby.

    Progress though.

OK, so house up north exchanged Tues 20th, want to complete Thu 29th (fast dates for this are apparently now rather common to avoid Covid interfering) and Big house in North London want Exchange and Complete within six weeks to avoid stamp duty... So at this rate, all maybe in by end of May-ish and after taxes are covered, distributions June/July.

On a personal note, finally spoken to GP, had bloods done. Now have stronger anti-imflamatories, painkillers and a Rheumatology referral as my markers were at 28 when normal is below 10!

Have applied for about three more jobs, one already emailed saying, sorry, role withdrawn (second time that's happened this year already!)

Also, DS had his Reception place confirmed at our first choice school, next door to the nursery, good good.

Not sure what exactly happened with house up north but things hadn't happened by Friday 30th April and it's now May 3rd, Bank Holiday Monday. Hubby's off this week though so should be getting stuff done whilst not having to work etc (I say this, I'm going to have to pester and it'll only total four days).

He should be catching up with solicitors and estate agents tomorrow after the BH weekend bascically.

Nothing further on the job front but we did discuss that where Hubby plans to ask for a reduction in days and go part time once he's on income from the flats, he should be asking for Thursday and Fridays off as currently, that's when DD has no nursery provision planned.

If I start working by July, she'll get full 30hrs provision but if not, or my start date is after the cut off point, it means she won't get it until January etc, she'll only be getting 15hrs and is booked for Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesday mornings.

He's managed to get some process on the transfer of the mortgages on the two flats today, confirming the management companies etc, all info the solicitors need to get it all through finally.

I've applied for more random jobs (not really random but, I have to go over all the jobs just to spot the ones that are actually in the right place, with the right hours/days. The pay at this point is almost irrelevant!)

I actually just want to do something remotely from home, love my little office here off the bedroom. It was hubby's little gaming den but since we built the garden office in 2019 he's played up there, when not working from home up there too so this little cubby is mine now!

Little house up north has exchanged, will complete in three days time. Big house in London still want to be done and dusted in the next six weeks.

New soilcitors for the mortgages on the flats are being a bit incompetent, hubby had to point out to them that something they sent him, querying an issue, stated on it 'complied', as in, no longer an issue, and this was something from 2009!!

Hubby has freed up a bit of cash so I've got some extra in my account, kids are about to get a nice wooden playhouse for the garden, he's finally upgrading his gaming PC and tonight we went out for dinner at TGIFridays.

Little house up north completed today. Statement of payments for the next 30 days on our mortgage also arrived after hubby's request as our intial five year interest free period ends next month and, basically, we can pay it off in full *shock*
The monthly savings will cover the final three months of DD's preschool fees before her free hours kick in starting from September. Then it will just be extra disposable income until we make other plans. The rental from the two London flats will be available to us in full soon as well.

Several years before I was able to put in for my DRO, which was in 2013, I remember having conversations with friends about not imagining ever being able to afford my own home, let alone ever being mortgage free. This is certainly not how I expected to achieve it (hubby and I losing three out of four parents in less than three years), and definetly not before I turned 40 either.
