Virgin Broadband & anytime £19.99 Free Wireless Router

I signed up on Monday for Virgin Broadband (8mb/unlimited) and Anytime free calls (01 and 02 numbers) for £19.99 and got a free wireless router. There was a choice of that or a TV.

As I am not in a cable area, I think it's probably the best deal for me.

Could you please feed back if the quality is ok, ie. speed. I am in the same situation but not sure about it.

Or could point to somewhere with relaible review.

    Many thanks
  • I've recently changed over to Virgin and I only use 2mb one. and the quality is pretty good. had it a week now and no problems at all. I bought my own router though as it is cable internet and my last router was adsl. getting the landline fitted today. I got the tv too, picture seems better than sky (which i cancelled) to be honest.

My understanding is:not including the line rental, which might be a good thing because it gives you more freedom to do anything you want on the line.

    Hi

It doesn't include line rental - but to be honest I'd rather stick with BT and keep the free services that I use with them: call minder, caller id etc (which I think you need to pay for with some other offers which include line rental - worth checking).

I'll do a line speed test when it gets changed over - should be this week sometime.

i just signed up on saturarday - the non-cable option at £19.99 also. is the modem/router they supply free of charge of a decent quality? mine has yet to arrive. also is it indeed both a modem/router? have you had any probs with internet access and/or phone calls. i really would appreciate the honest advice as i have only a few days left to cancel. thanks all :)

that is absolutely correct as far as the cable option. for myself (non-cable) i will still have to pay the line rental to bt on top of my £19.99 to virgin - a shame but i just hope virgin's service is good re the broadband/phone. :)

I do think that Virgin media are cheap. I have my phone and broadband with them. I am on 8 mb BB and currently pay £12 and my phone landline I pay £4.99. These are both special rates which only last for 3 months, but having been with the same company for ages (Previously NTL) I've learnt that if you ring up every 3 months you can negotiate a new deal. I don't think I ever had that the whole time I was with BT. My line rental alone with BT was £11.

I'm interested in this free router though! I rang them up today, and was told that they can't provide routers (I was after a freebie!)
