I'm adding to my winter prep list to have a good clear out in the shed, so I can fit the gas BBQ in. Last Fridays wind ripped the cover to shreds, which I've already replaced once this year
I shall dedicate a day to it, and combine it with a trip to the tip.
On the plus side, the kiddies wood playhouse has coped with the weather very well. No damp spots inside and roof looks intact. Phew.Bossymoo

This is a thread I like to see, i have been a food and prep storer since 2006, just keep rotating for winter and replacing or updating, have not long got some heavy duty shelves in the bedroom and kitchen food and preps has become a way of life now for me. , I am a carer and winter is hard as I cannot get him out in the snow or very bad weather he has a hip complaint, so in the snow or very cold I have to be ready, I have been reading up on fuel or energy cuts in winter 2015/2016 so have been doing something for that, kilner jar container candles at the moment and making rebatch soaps into bigger bars from the smaller0

There has been a definite nip in the air for the past two mornings which has been focussing me on getting ready for winter.
I have £8 of tesco vouchers so I think I may pop down to get some bits for storage.
I still have some door sausages to make which I'm going to do this week.
I also have some concrete coming away under the front door step which let's water into the cellar so I need to get that repaired this week. On top of this I have a couple of floorboards which need replacing under the bay window. I think a mooch in local skips will be needed.
I'm going to pop all the coats in to wash again today ready for the chillier weather and get the little one to try his on as I think it may still fit for a while. Plus my DH has loads of thick socks which need the holes darning.
I also need to go and rescue the candles which fell off the shelf into the cellar.
This year I will be more prepared and a bit warmer.1 debt v's 100 days chapter 34: T3sco bank CC £250/£525.24 47.59%

Thank you and sorry. Thank god for anonymity I am extremely red faced! I really appreciate it as it is a fab list and I'm going to write it down x0 -
Last night I spent a good 2 hours+ clearing out the surface layer of sealant around the livingroom window as it was disgusting and about 2cm wide in some places. Not surprised to find that in some places where it had perished there was nothing behind a very thin layer so I've cleaned it up best I could, filled the gaps (I left the deeper sealant in so there is still something holding the window in place :rotfl:) and I'll go back over the join with fresh sealant BEFORE I wallpaper. I've gained a good 2cm of window frame in places which is good as I plan to put nets up instead of the blinds as I'm sick of living in a fish tank and people gawking through the window when I have them open
Today we're going to get the fireplace out from storage & hopefully work out how to fit it snuggly. I did ask a friend to help me when I first bought it back in Novemeber 2012 and I'm still waiting so I'm going to fit it with DD's help then send him a picture saying "After nearly 2 years I got fed up of waiting for you to come fit it so me & [DD] have done it ourselves" :rotfl::rotfl: In the past 5 days I've already taught her how to strip wallpaper including behind radiators/pipes, fit back plate things behind fires (ours had come away as it was taped to the wallpaper!), fill holes, remove sealant, sand some bits down, choose paint colours and work out whether furniture will fit in a room the way you want it
DD is going to be so self-sufficient when she eventually leaves home I won't have to worry too much. If she behaves herself I might even let her hang some wallpaper this week, and see if she can do a better job than her dad did :rotfl::rotfl:
Creeping back in for accountability after falling off the wagon in 2016.Need to get back to old style in modern ways, watching the pennies and getting stuff done!0 -

No need to be red faced... this site is really hard to navigate on a phone and not so easy to find the right post when there are so many similar titles to choose from.. I was just sat browsing while knitting .. much easier to find this stuff on the lappy! I didn't know if you knew the previous links were available..
