Preparing for winter IV

it isn`t over yet, something monstrous could be afoot

read about the AR 1844 sunspot
We had to get out to get pellets for the stove, one lane is flooded (ford) so we went another route. The low fields on both sides are awash and the ditches on either side of the lanes down there are full to the top. Then it went very dark and it was torrential with hail, thunder and lightening and a dim rainbow, very eerie. That huge area cannot take any more and another access will, I think, soon be impassable. This winter is turning out to be very frightening
Next extremely bad period after this one, is the 13th of this month
omg more hail0 -
We've just had one of those 'suddenly very dark' moments and the heavens opened and there was hail in the rain so the garden rapidly went white, it continued for 5 minutes so heavy I couldn't see the back fence and then suddenly we were under blue sky and the sun was shining, wierd!!! It looks as though we're in for another shower of something in the not too distant future, I'd describe the weather today as INTERESTING!!!0

It's bonkers here. One minute glorious sunshine but howling wind, the next it's eerily quiet and almost dark. Right now it's bright but it's been on and off all morning...Bossymoo

I have to ask myself why the gov are ignoring him (+ what he can offer) but it is all about green taxes and super rich companies getting richer in a lie, meanwhile bleeding us dry. He was so right in december and we have to remember that the solar effects do affect the whole earth not just the uk ie storms and floods on one side and burning heat on another plus earthquakes and volcanoes0 -
Same here Lyn except we had one isolated thunder crack. Its all very ominous.
A close eye on 13th then Kittie.
I got my first pay today and was a little more than I expected. Im throwing it straight into my food stores. I think as a priority I need to get to grips with the high wall shelving in the kitchen and invest in glass storage jars. We cant get flood risk alerts so that tells me we should be far enough from the river but the Im mid house in a row of three. Next doors pipes could freeze I guess. My surplus food stocks are currently low down so Ill feel better them being higher up.
Not really Winter Prepping but I know that wall gets a lot of sun evening time. What risk to my dry food stuffs does sunlight pose?0 -

not good in the sun fuddle, they need to be dark to last longer. You could cover the jars with painted brown paper, the children could paint them so they would still look nice0 -
Horrible day here too, battering rain and wind blowing the car about going over the moor road. Now got a snow warning for tomorrow, at least snow is bright lol0

It is very frightening, just lunging from one storm to another.
My friend was trapped in her village today, sea breached the wall on one road, when she went back to go another way that was closed because of sea water. Luckily for her, her house is away from the beach.
I'm just going to stay prep'd up for the next few months, food, petrol etc.
Hope everyone is safe & warm, without any damage.:):j0 -
It's not windy today but constant rain, not too heavy but persistent and it feels very much cooler out there too. Have been into town this morning and the smaller river we go across has filled the flood plain entirely (thankfully this one has no building on it and can still do what it exists for) and the grazing fields either side of it are underwater as well. There was a great deal of surface water everywhere and some deeper flooded bits of road where one side of the carriageway was under over a foot of water. The good news however is that none of the houses or businesses that are beside our river in the village has been flooded although some of the gardens are very close to it, stay safe everyone, Lyn xxx.0
