It not rained, or been windy here today...............think something must be wrong?!:o
Tried to dry some washing though, it's as wet now as when it went out at 8.30 this morning.:j0 -
The sky is looking a light beige and quite hopeful as the light draws away. I am daring the think red sky at night shepherds delight but no deluge would be suffice. Calm and still with the rain ending about an hour ago.
Every divot has water in. Our local river has long burst it's banks but likewise Lyn, I don't think it's effected anything other the fields along side it.
I've to make my draught excluder for the front door tomorrow and work out what to do with the very long kitchen window that connects to the back door. It's cold in there and not surprising really with all that exposed glass. If we get minus temps here we're goosed.
With that in mind we are taking a risk with trying out the night storage heater. We've lived in the house for 6 weeks now and still relying on oil filled radiators. They are very expensive to run so enough is enough. We've put the storage heater on this afternoon to burn off the smell and the heat stored in there (surprised there was anything in after all this time!) and try charging it tonight. The weather has been so mild it's been ok but should we get night frosts it will be a different story. My LL is in no hurry with this, gotta try.0 -
How about making a curtain in two parts, the bottom part being a 'cafe curtain' which stays in place all the time with out being drawn and the top curtain as a short pair that draw to the sides in a conventional way. Could you use those self supporting telescopic hanging rails, the ones used to hang a shower curtain? That would give you constant protection from half the curtain at the bottom and you could probably use it with a liner to make it warmer still and you'd still get the light from the top part of the window, Lyn xxx.0

Am I right in thinking that the UK gets its weather a few days after the US (I could be completely wrong!) ?
Are there any predictions for heavy snow for us over here ? I've just read this & got quite worried
