My Shower room is soooo cold,i have an 8ft by 8ft shower room with loo and sink, the 400w heater never gets turned off,its tiled floors but have bathmats down and bubble wrapped windows, verticle blinds, shower cap over extractor fan (blows air in as well as sucks out im sure) what else can i do to get it warm, ive even shoved Loo paper into any gaps around pipes and keep the light on as i read that it gives of heat????

I guess the only thing left is to fit a new more powerful heater, bathroom fan heaters are quite good and heat the room very quickly, high energy consumption tho, so would need to be used carefully.

Nothing worse than taking a shower in a baltic bathroom though, is there? You just don't want to pull that curtain back and get out.

You seem to be doing most things to keep the room warm.
I have a cold downstairs toilet and I keep a nightlight burning there in a lantern on very cold nights. (An old trick from when people had outside loos, I remember my Grandmother used to burn a candle on a saucer under a terracotta pot but I reckon a lantern and nightlight is much safer!)
Have you checked for draughts with an incense stick or candle? Lots of people use that filler foam around pipe openings or even polythene 'bunged' into gaps as a temporary measure although I know that it's not a particularly good look;) (I discovered a draught where the waste pipe went out from my kitchen sink when we first moved here. The polythene bag trick worked until we fitted a new kitchen in the summer :o)
Remember you do need some ventilation or you might get condensation problems.
Sorry I can't think of anything else, maybe someone else can be of more help...

I'm still here thanks to the N East air ambulance who flew me off the side of a fell on a spinal board after a nasty fall off my horse. Ironically at the time I was doing a fund raising ride for them.:o
They were brilliant, so efficient and professional

So has everyone given up on the 'preparing for winter' thing and moved to preparing for Spring? I've woken up to thickly falling snow today so plants that I was hoping to plant this weekend will have to stay in a chilly utility room for now.
Hope that you are all ok and keeping warm. I actually gave in and turned the heating thermostat up last night after struggling to keep it turned down all winter! :(
(Didn't get the sheets btw, none in stock at my local :( )

Morning Eenymeeny, no not everyone has stopped watching this thread! It is TRYING to snow here but without success. It is just so blinking cold still! Am about to light my coal fire, having done some housework... really wanted to put the washing on the line but it will turn solid in half an hour if I do, so the banisters will have to do AGAIN!
I hope that some others are still reading this thread too, alongside of Prep for Spring, I do enjoy reading all the posts!
