  • That's good to know then that hopefully I'll be treated as an existing customer!

Still waiting after 2 weeks and going BR tomorrow so wish they'd get a move on otherwise it means going to Barclays! Hey ho, as long as I have some sort of bank account!
  • Spoke to the OR today and she has confirmed she is happy for s to use the cash minder account and will write to the and let them know.

So please. Keep the comments on this thread to those regarding accounts opened AFTER 17/09/2012 and shortly BEFORE you went BR.

Off this board I know someone else who opened their account recently and then went BR with no problems too. So I'm now fairly sure that all is well with the world of the Cashminder and the new rules will only affect the few people who haven't had the knowledge/foresight to open one in advance of BR.

  • Ummmm (rubs chin). Most worrying.

My wife and I opened up a basic current account in separate names around middle of December in preparation for our BR on January 4th - this Friday. Do you think we'll be ok?

Good...I recommend using one to pay fixed outgoings only, like rent, CT, any DD's, insurance, water etc....the other can be used for income and random expenditure like food, etc.

Make a point, when income hits that account, to transfer fixed amounts into the first account....you can do this in a trice, online. [Barclays, BTW, have a policy of not allowing online access whilst undischarged. Co-op have no such policy]

Thus, you will guarantee to be able to pay bills as & when they're due......by only using the 'income' account for purchasing, you will not incidental spend money you should not have done.

    Thank you again.

Whilst I'm here. Cheeky I know. Could you offer any advice on how the OR will view purchasing a Tesco sim only contract at £10/month?. I say this because my mobile bills via contract are currently costing me £86/month, which I have included in the BR so I will be losing, but clearing all mobile phone debt.

I absolutely need a phone with decent amount of call allowance because my job takes me hundreds of miles away from home and my wife on a nightly basis.

Should I buy this now or after BR on Friday. I was thinking if I buy it now, my credit score isn't as trashed as it will be after Friday, thus increasing my chances of getting the £10/month rolling contract, but, i think the OR may take a dim view on this!

Yep! do it now and put the other contract into the BR. The OR will not worry about you saving money.
