Co-op Cashminder feedback - Accounts opened AFTER 17th Sept 2012

Went in today to open up a cashminder account. Bank advisor tried 3 times to get me to open a current account rather than a cashminder account saying I didn't have to have an overdraft or credit facilities. Can't work out whether it is because they are trying to phase them out or if she gets more for the sale.
She made it very clear asking about probs with credit and whether I am BR (not yet, petitioning soon). Stated it was definitely a cashminder that I wanted to open. Bit surprised that the account wasn't opened there and then. She is sending off an application form and ID apparently and they'll write to me.
So we shall see! I'll report back what happens after it has a) hopefully been opened and b) after I hopefully go BR.

ah you might be our first real guinea pig then newchapter. That's the normal Co-op process btw sending everything off and you hear about the account in a couple of weeks so nothing unusual."Our prime purpose in this life is to help others. And if you can't help them, at least don't hurt them." Dalai Lama0

That's good to know then, I was panicking thinking they thought I was dodgy or something

They did the same with us exactly 7days ago. Still waiting to hear from them, and likewise they tried to get us to open a current account and we had robe quite firm to get cash minder.

Update. Today our welcome letter and debit cards came through the post. We await PIN numbers but now the letter and the cards have arrived we know they are coming.
Next week we have our appointment with the court to declare bankruptcy so will update further after that.

Hi all, I opened my Co-op cashminder account on the 4th Oct, and was made bankrupt on the 9th Oct. I have activated the online banking, received my welcome pack, along with my debit card.
The notification of my bankruptcy is already noted on my account, and have been advised by a member of staff in the Money Management Department, that my account is to stay operational. :T

Thanks, I had been watching this post with interest, as I was not sure how things would go with the Co-op after going bankrupt. Lets hope it continues to help others open accounts before declaring themselves bankrupt.
