could be identity fraud some donkey been in your bins and been applying for credit in your name
that would cause a problem for sureI am NOT a mortgage advisor nor a professional in any debt related matters my replies to posts reflect my personal view only and experience in life time situations that may or may not be of any use to you if you need advice speak to a professional0 -
You need to get reports from Experian and Equifax and sign up to Noddle for free to get a full picture of your situation: There could be something that's on one but not the other. For example, I bought something for cash from Shopping Direct and they made a credit search which is on my credit report for a year!
The reason could be anything or everything: Maxed available credit, not long enough credit history, defaults or missed payments or over limit at a linked address, defaults or missed payments or over limit with a linked person, not enough time on the electoral roll, too many credit searches over a short period indicating potential fraud - you name it!
You need to get your credit reports to assess your situation and you could also try asking for the reason you've been turned down and the CRA they used.
I think they both use Experian but you're right, I should get from equifax too so that I cover my bases. I'll sign up to noddle.0 -

apply for the nationwide card this WILL NOT LEAVE any footprint unless you click accept
it gives you a qoute half way through the application
get to the qoute then shut the webpage down
if it says no , you have something on experian for sure
if it says 500 quid and apr 19.9 then that will decline
if its says 15.9 and limit it more than 1500 post back here for adviceI am NOT a mortgage advisor nor a professional in any debt related matters my replies to posts reflect my personal view only and experience in life time situations that may or may not be of any use to you if you need advice speak to a professional0 -
2 new accounts in a short space of time probably doesnt help. It took them 8 months to accept me for a clarity card after opening my Reward accountDebt free and staying that way! :beer:0

With this nationwide card will I be able to use free abroad if on holiday? I know there is a nationwide card at present though only exclusive to their customers, which no doubt I wouldn't get as only would have just joined if I decided too and have same issues per Halifax. This is a nightmare.0 -
Problem now is you've now got multiple searches on your credit report, so chances are others will refuse you anyway now.
With Halifax, you need to keep your current account in good order for at least 7 months before requesting credit (which includes a CC), according to branch staff.
A few months of both current account and other credit card usage is too short a time.0 -

How can I not meet their criteria when I am already one of their reward current account customers! Ridiculous really. I've just filled in an experian application form to send to them for £2 priviledge. This is very frustrating as now my plan for a cheap spending holiday could potentially backfire!!!
To be honest, it's a pretty arrogant viewpoint that they should give all their current account holders a credit card.
You've been with them 90days. 6 months used to be an important trigger point for credit card acceptance. No guarantees, but higher probability.0
