MSE News: Eon simplifies its energy tariffs

Hi Harwells
You're right. Our new tariffs don't provide a gas only option. Sorry about this. I'll feed back to the guys who came up with the new tariffs.
We'll continue to honour your existing AgeUK tariff up to the end date in 2013.
As it stands at the moment, the only option with us when your current arrangement ends is our standard tariff. Best to pop you details on to one of the comparison sites for a full view of what's available in the market.

Sorry to be dense but I can't work out if the Tesco points are a flat rate of 1000 a year or are still paid on how much your bill is.
The Eon thingy says I'll save £30 a year if I switch to a new tariff but if I get less Tesco points I'll lose out.0 -
The average energy bill is about £1,000 per year so the figure they quoted was probably an average. When I was with E.on the Tesco points were based on the actual bills.
Personally, I wouldn't rely on Tesco points to reduce my energy costs.
Edit
According to UK Power comparison site :-E.ON Energy Fixed 1 year v2 (with Tesco points)
For paying by Monthly Direct Debit, you receive a discount of 6% off your total annual energy bill.
For taking both gas and electricity you receive a dual fuel reward of 1050 Tesco points per annum.
Customers managing their bills online receive an additional reward of 1050 Tesco points per annum.
Customers staying with E.ON receive an additional loyalty reward: 1050 Tesco points in their second year; 1575 Tesco points in their third year; and 2100 Tesco points after that.Warning: In the kingdom of the blind, the one-eyed man is king.

So it looks as though the points are at a flat yearly rate
They are worth a fair bit to us as we use them to eat out - so £5 of money for nothing becomes £20 which is a real treat ;-)0 -

Hi tumptyteapot
With some of our new tariffs, we've changed the way we allocate Tesco Clubcard points.
If you choose one of the new tariffs, there are various rewards you may be eligible for. These include taking both fuels, managing the account online and remaining a customer for up to 3 years.
On most of these tariffs (the exceptions are AgeUK products), you then have the option of taking these rewards as money off your bills or as Tesco Clubcard points.
We'll give you 1000 points for every £10 earned as rewards.
For instance, if you earn £30 of rewards a year, this can be converted into 3000 Tesco points.
Previously, we offered points against payments made on qualifying products. Although this option isn't available on the new products, you can continue to receive these on E.ON EnergyPlan (our standard product) or if you're on one of our older tariffs, provided it's eligible for these points.
Hope this is of some help tumptyteapot. Give me a shout if you need any more info as will be happy to help.

Hi tumptyteapot
I'm sorry you had problems contacting us by phone.
Track & Save is one of our earlier products and ends on 1 August 13. If you stay on the tariff to the end, you'll continue to earn Tesco points against payments made as in the past.
Energy Plan1 is our standard product. Again, this is an existing tariff and also earns Tesco points against payments as above. There's no end date with this tariff.
For a full picture of all the tariffs available, I'd pop your usage on to one of the comparison sites.
Hope this helps tumptyteapot. Give me a shout if I can help further.
