Oh yes the borough of Lewisham could be a possibility.
I live SE London now but live in Bromley which is a lovely area and areas around it, just stay in the borough.
Bromley is beautiful! A very famous multi millionaire chef lives in Bromley, some of the houses rounf that way are amazing!0 -

They said no unfortunately.
But you've got a a huge amount of equity in the property??????
You only have a 20k mortgage outstanding........:money:
There's ways round that anyway......
How long ago did you ask your mortgage company?0 -

We're remote with some of the lowest crime statistics in Britain and a most wonderful sense of community - we escaped a large Cotswold town 8 years ago which was hardly Beirut but going downhill fast and bought our ruin of a house here for very little money........still renovating now.
We relocated in our early thirties, just did the sums, took pay cuts and went, and although employment opportunities aren't great there's always a demand for nursing and healthcare professionals.
You needn't worry about Staffies called 'Killer' either - although the neighbouring farm's sheepdog, Bryn, doesn't like people wearing red and said farm's goat, Olive, is pure evil.
I do have to warn you though of a recent crime wave - someone pinched the hanging basket from the village shop in the summer......folk are still talking about it now.
Good luck whatever you decide!breadlinebetty wrote: »Answered my own question! lol

They are London boroughs though.0 -
Ooops. Just quoted Norma again by mistake0

Boroughs of London..maybe.....but they are not strictly in London - they come under Essex and any Londoner would tell you that too.
They don't even have a zone do they???0 -
Betty, do you mean zone as in tube/rail travel?
Zone 40 -
Before you go looking into moving miles away, have you checked prices for one bed flats around the M25 corridor? I used to live in SE London and it was going downhill very quickly so we looked at buying a new-build house on a private estate. It was tiny, with the smallest garden I'd ever seen, yet was priced at £220k (this was in 2001). We then looked further afield towards Kent around the M25 and ended up with a 3 bed semi, huge gardens both front and back, good size rooms throughout, fields to the rear and miles of woodland to walk our staffie and the rescue dogs we foster, all for £120k. Obviously prices have gone up since then, but they are still far cheaper than London (probably more-so now). Make sure you're getting all the tax credits that you are entitled to.0

Another vote for Keighly area and it has a hospital, Airedale Hospital.
Silsdon, skipton, ilkley all nearby are nice villages/towns, with Bradford/Leeds only half an hour away.0 -

Newham is East London, it is definitely not Essex: Stratford is E15 on the central line and zone 3. Barking and Dagenham are on tube lines/ have a zone IIRC.Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0
