My point was you should have done the research prior to making a complaint in the first place. How can you make a legitimate complaint about a PPI policy you may not even have had?

You're not alone in this, the Banks report that 50% of "complaints" received are from people who didn't have a PPI policy. It's part of the reason the Banks are snowed under with complaints and take so long to respond to them.

There is 2 cards out of 9 that I don't have any info apart from account numbers and when I closed the accounts and I didn't complain I asked them if I had paid PPI on the accounts.

I believe at the end of the day yes we should have kept our finger on the ball.

if this is an approach they are adopting then they can hardly complain about the level of legitimacy on their complaint form pile sitting on their departmental desks
I agree with you about Egg, but we've already discussed how the staff there are really just charged with "winding down" that part of what is now Barclaycard. I thoroughly agree they shouldn't have encouraged you to "complain" in those circumstances.

Just a quick up date, the about loan that RBS told me hadn't been drawn up, after .I sent a copy of the credit agreement back to them I have now had a standard reply saying they will look into it for me. showed my hubby the credit agreement saying I cant remember taking this out can you? and he said yes that was for your car in 2001 .

    Loan was for £7500
    PPI £1150
    Interest £2650

    48 payments of £227.06

    says loan monthly £196.87, PPI £30.19 @ 12.4%

So am I right in thinking that if I get a refund it will be £1150 + 12.4% +8% ?

    Many thanks

Hi, just a quick question do most companies reply to you saying they will investigative?

I send letters of on the 3rd Sept I have had 3 replies saying they will look into it and so on but not heard anything from Egg or Barclaycard
just wondering if this is normal and I should just wait till 8 weeks have passed then contacted them again?

I cant ring the btw as they are all in my husbands name and they wont discus with me.

    Thanks:o

The Banks aren't required to "investigate" if you had PPI. They only have to respond to letters of complaint within eight weeks. For SAR letters it's normally 40 days.

and Egg was 2000 to now. I have some barclaycard statements but no egg ones as it was all on line.

I wonder if they'd have continued down that route if you hadn't had the documentary evidence?

    Well done on your success!

No i dont think they would have, good job I kept that box of paper work :) £2670 better off haha

and with the credit card they have sent a estimate on charges and interest rate, but did state that if I had evidence I could send it and they will recalculate, which I do have and have sent :)
