Fingers crossed you soon feel better Molly - my DS1 has been donating regularly since he was old enough, wonder if you've had some of his Gothy rugby-league semi-vegetarian blood? ;)
Elona Hope your daughter is well enough to come home soon & that all the tests go OK. I do agree with you about HH's workplace though - maybe "Dignitas in the senior staff room" would be a more sensible option!

Am debating whether to dig out my wellies and go & inspect the lotty tonight after work....think my beets & butternut squash may have been washed away....

    Afternoon all!

Was a beautiful morning, but seems to have declined into rain now, necessitating a run to the washing line - okay I admit, I was a bit over optimistic hanging the washing out today lol!

dd4 woke up fully restored to her usual sunny self, which after yesterday when she careened through the house leaving chaos and destruction in her wake, is a huge relief! She helped me hoover, well she climbed on Henry and had a ride, tidy and wipe stuff down!

OS stuff here today has been food based as usual! I've used the jam maker to juice the sloes that weren't used for gin, and will make apple and sloe jelly as soon as it dries enough to pick some crabapples. I'm trying a new bread recipe, didn't seem to have much water in but followed it regardless, and it seems to have risen okay, so fingers crossed it'll taste okay too! I've also been through the freezers rotating food, and am planning to use up stores for the next couple of weeks as we have so much and just do small shops for fresh bits (inspired by the quincetree blog!)

Lunches today: cheese sarnies, crisps, raspberry and choc muffin, apple, pear, cheese, yoghurt.

Dinner: sausages/fish, chips, veg, choc muffins for pud if I get on with them this aft!

Have a good day all, tiny pink has awoken and requires rescuing from her cot! xxx

Cold and grey here with rain on and off.

Hospital went well and I don't have to go back unless I have another exacerbation, they also gave me a new style spacer, which is great because it is handbag sized:j
Our 25th anniversary today, no point in going out tonight because by the time DH finishes his shift he will be too tired :( so we are having our celebration on Saturday :D Mind you I did get some beautiful flowers and a silver charm bracelet from him this morning, I bought him a silver chain. I can't believe how quickly the last 25 years has gone.

elona, I hope all goes well at the hospital and that they have found out a bit more about what your DD has x

Hectic day so far. One dd given lift to Leeds, med cert taken in to other dd's employer, dashed home , got new gas fire amended slightly, paid for bathroom repairs etc and finally sat down to sausage and mash for lunch.

DH just told me the bridge is unsafe and no one is allowed to walk or drive on it. Fortunately we are the right side to drive to hospital and medical centre which is a relief and to get to small supermarket.

Looked out clothes to take to hospital for dd, home made leek and potato soup for tonight is simmering, loaded dishwasher and sat down.

Youngest at uni has freshers flu and is desperate for a printer and printer paper as well as clothes airer etc. Need to work out when we can drive to her on a day with things she needs when she is available and also fitting around hospital stuff.

Just have time for quick browse on here before dashing off to hospital so hugs to all.

    Afternoon all,

Not such bad weather here as yesterday but still wet and windy.

Have done eBay posting and listed a few more things. Tea tonight will be salad again for me which I love, really pushing the weight loss as the Christmas wedding is looming.

Thoughts and prayers with your sister today nmlc.

The sky man is just here fitting the new box, so the boys are all excited:) it doesn't take much lol.

Need to get on and put the chicken in the oven, have a good day all j x

Thanks for the kind wishes :) sounds like there are lots of people having a hard time - makes me feel silly for moaning about my cold and my sore back! Sending best wishes to those who are ill or who have a loved one in hospital...

Home from work now. In bed with a cup of tea, going to have a nap in a bit. Still got 10 GCSE practice exams to mark which have to be done by tomorrow so I must get those done tonight no matter how bad I feel :( Work was fine, although Year 8 drama just before lunch is not something I'd wish on my worst enemy when they were feeling ill - they're a lovely class but SO loud and hyperactive and you can't do quiet work in drama!

Hope everyone's having a good day. Pretty much no OS in my house today...I may even end up using a jar of pasta sauce for dinner!!! The shame...
  • Hi, I used to post a while ago but then life got in the way!

you have my symapthy we have just moved 250miles away because DH was made redundant . He did a Mon-Fri commute for 10months which we all found really hard , however he was lucky to get the job he did. It was a very stressful time, but we knew that we had to move for him to get a job, and we didn't want to be apart any longer than we had to. We are currently in rented waiting for our house purchase to go through, so hopefully in 16 days we will be in our new home:T.

Redruby - could I please have your cheesy bean pie recipe? My inlaws are coming next month and they are almost veggie (unlike us) and I find it really hard to cook something that everyone will eat.

Not much OS done today, I've been out looking for a new kitchen as the house we are buying is a renovation project. Dinner tonight is butternut squash risotto.

Afternoon all. Well the dry weather is going to be short lived as it is now very dark with rain clouds but its not cold, lounge windows wide open, I have admittedly just gone and pulled up the bedroom windows so if it does rain I wont have to do a mad dash up there.

Happy 25th anniversary ..............your name has escaped me but you know who you are:o;)

Dd coat came today , I got it off ebay, spent £20 on it but its worth £68 as it still has the tag on it so happy days there.

Dinner tonight is fish and chips , as ds3 works there we always get it for a really good price. Still expensive but hey hoo its only once in a while and not every week like it use to be:eek::eek::o.

My neighbour came round earlier, she had bought her son a onesie as he kept nagging her about wanting one, once she got it he told her he was only joking  so she asked if it was any good for any of my brood. Now ds3 has been saying since last christmas that he would wear one and so tonight he will be able to .Its an adults one size one and looks pretty big so am sure it will fit him . No more moaning about not having one.

She wouldnt take any money for it :mad: so have made her an apple crumble and a victoria sponge cake as a thank you.

Rain has just started coming down in very large drops , better go and shut the back door.

HUGE hugs for all who are or have people in hospital atm.:)

Had a lovely day today in spite of the weather. An old friend came over from the mainland and we were able to spend some time together. I haven't seen her for 3 years and have really missed her. We've been through some really tough times together - 2 divorces, penniless single parents to teenagers, the death at age 31 of her middle son of cancer, house moves, family problems etc. It's quite true what they say, you can't make old friends. I even got taken out to lunch.

And now back to the church magazine which has to be finished by tomorrow night and which (ahem!) hasn't even been started yet. Something, I know not what, makes my mind close down whenever I think about it. However, something has to get on to paper pretty soon.

nmlc: hope all goes well for your sister.

Elona: Do hope there is good news soon for your DD.

To all those not feeling too good - keep warm and let healing thoughts surround you.

    Evening everyone

Just spoken to my mum sis's operation was cancelled - but not until that's got to the hospital! The hospital is not local to us either so they had a drive to get there. They had to be at the hospital for 7am, she was booked in and in the waiting room when hospital worker just came over to her and my BIL and said "your op has been cancelled". Needless to say she's devastated as she's been on a real mixture of drugs since beginning of the year and has had to come off those a week ago to be able to have the op done. Now she has to go back on them and off again for when op is re-scheduled, looking like the 10th October. I appreciate that other people have needs too but sometimes they just don't seem to have an forethought - her children are younger than mine and we've all had a rough year up until now with 2 bereavements in 6 weeks over the summer.

Sorry, that turned into a bit of rant.

    Keep safe and well x
