o/s daily thread 26th sept

Options
OS Daily Thread for Tuesday 25th September This is the Daily thread for Monday 25th September 2012. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning all. Just trying to get up the energy to go and wash my hair before work. Took OH to the station at 6 as usual.

Feeling a bit rubbish today. My lower back 'went' yesterday (yes, I really am only in my twenties!). I know doctors would probably say it's unrelated but it has been weak and prone to aches ever since I had meningitis when I was 19 and a junior doctor did my lumbar puncture and didn't do the best job. Anyway, I was in loads of pain last night and neither of us slept well, apparently OH says I was crying in my sleep :( plus I can feel a terrible cold coming on. OH has had it for a week so I suppose it's only a matter of time. I was meant to be visiting my grandparents after work today but I think I'll take a rain check. Can't risk giving them my germs, they take colds very badly at their age.

Mushroom risotto for dinner tonight. Beef and ale casserole with mash last night was gorgeous.

I'm glad I got my laundry basket up to date yesterday, the house tidied and lots of cooking done. I finish work at half one today and have a few errands to run, but if I still feel like this I will be putting them off and coming home to bed.

Hope everyone has a good day and that none of you have been too badly affected by the storms!
  • Morning all...

Up early here - I'm leaving for work in about 25minutes (I should get up soon then?) I've woken up in a great mood - all the better for facing the woman who hates me at work for reporting her for bad practice. To be honest, we care for people, so bad practice gets reported by me no matter the consequence...I have to live with myself.

Anyways...today I have work planned (pays the bills the old fashioned way, and then I'm planning on coming home and figuring out how to cook my big roast chicken (that I plan on feeding myself for the next 3/4 days or so with) in my teeny tiny countertop oven.

I set off the smoke alarm yesterday...and I'd like to avoid doing the same today if possible!

I also need to go and get forms to register at the GP today...

and I'm hoping to get through the flylady stuff AND....have a no spend day! Here's hoping!

And I need to get cracking on some studies tonight! Whoop whoop!

    Have a fabulous day everyone!

Nice to 'see you' Bargain Bird, hugs to all in need.
Spicy lamb casserole for packups today & sandwiches for hubby aswell as he is working a from 9am to 9:45pm.
Wet here today & it looks like I'll be doing lunch duty in the rain, deep joy.
We have a new buzz phrase at work, 'Dignity in the workplace' it's a new way of treating people like carp, but being polite about it, lol.
    Have a good day everyone.

Oh Hester the wet weather is rubbish isn't it! I can't remember if you are at a primary or secondary but in this case I don't think it matters - when it's windy or rainy even our great big teenagers go absolutely mental. Just glad I finish at lunchtime today so I will avoid the last period madness when they have not managed to get any fresh air all lunchtime!

    Morning all,

Wet and cold here :( too cold for septemer, no heating yet though, I refuse to give those heating companies any more than I have too.

Off to work for me, need to make up a sandwich before I go, dd off to college, we had a lovely day out shopping yesterday, dd got herself a good few bits for winter, she had a good spend up, but as I said to her, you earnt it so you can choose what you spend it on, she has saved some too.

Cheesy bean pie for dinner, the mash was made with 1/2 spuds and 1/2 roasted mashed squash, so a bit different, looking forward to it.

Need to do a wash tonight, which will have to go on airer.

    Have good days all xx

    Elona, how is dd ??
  • Good morning

Daisiegg hope your back and cold are better soon. Lots of people I know have colds at the moment.

Well foodbank for me in a bit but first I am am in bed with the lappie. May need another cuppa in a minute.....

I hope the floods and rain are not too bad and everyone is coping. People fairly close to me in Winford and Chew Magna have been hit but we have been ok so far.

Tea is something with mince and I hope I have the energy after the food bank to cook.....

I got some washing nearly dry yesterday so will finish it off in the dryer in a mo-I only like to use my dryer to air off if you know what I mean. OH got me it in the summer as it was so wet we finally gave in.

Well hugs and kind words to all . Flutterby have a good residential.

    Have a good day.

    Morning everyone

Hugs to those that need/want them that are having a hard/sad time at the moment x

Today is my sis's day for her heart op - she had to be at the hospital for 7am so hoping everything has gone to plan and they have a bed for her etc! Will be asking the big guy to keep her safe x

Light cloud, with sun trying to peek through here this morning. DH up and off to work stupid early.

Dinner last night was a rice dish that I made up as I went along, I put in lots of bits from the fridge that otherwise would be left until they were unusable thn be thrown in the bin. I used some tikka masala paste to give some flavour and some tomato passata for liquid, then added onions, carrots, courgettes, mushrooms, baby sweetcorn, chopped smoked sausage, rice and added a chopped up omlette just before serving - was really nice, but will be hard to replicate as used no recipe!

Dinner tonight will be chicken in a mushroom sauce with mash and veg, will also use up the LO yorkshires, cauli/brocc cheese from Sunday's roast.

Only working until lunchtime today, so will make a start on the usual list of jobs - need to be reasonably well organised as we're going away Friday night and we must get away at a decent time as DH has a meeting on Saturday morning that he needs to travel too 1.5hours from where we're staying. Looking forward to getting away though haven't been away in the caravan for a while.

Have a good day, stay safe and well x
