I never thought I would be in a position like this either.!! FYI I had no debt problems until 2 years ago, so hopefully all the uppty people on here will never find themselves in this situation.
I thanked the people who gave me advice i was aiming the 2nd post at people like the others above!

Trust me, I think you'll find that most of us have been in dire situations in the past. Like you, I never thought it would happen to me but I did dig myself out of the pit eventually. Fortunately, prior to the event, I had always had a good credit history so my bank were supportive.

Hard work, though. BTW, you may be able to get help with central heating, etc., because of your disabled stepson. Worth asking anyway.

My husband and I have a bad credit history due to having a loan & mortgage when he was laid off and i was 9 months pregnant at the time which resulted in arrears. Both are being paid off monthly now.
HOWEVER- we desperately need a loan of £2500 for 12 months to get some things sorted.
we are both working and can afford the repayments but cannot find a lender. We have been promised the funds by 2 companies now who have taken £69 processing fee and then told us we can only borrow £500 at 800%!!!
    PLEASE CAN ANYONE HELP???
There must be a company somewhere??

Yep cant see a loan forthcoming im afraid.

What you want to do is stop giveing money away willy nilly, you dont pay a company to find a loan as A you can do it yourself and B theres no guarantee you will get the amount you want as you have found out and C the interest will be astronomical as you have found out.

Have you tried Pounds 2 Pocket? I was after the same amount as you but no one would lend me anything but P2P did at least lend me something.

Regarding the "processing fee" and promise of loan that doesn't materialise, I too also had that but complained and stopped them taking the fee before the offer of a loan, not an acutal loan, came through. One was AK Management and the other was Priority Money Club, steer well clear of these two.
  • Another option is a guarantor loan if you know of a friend or family member who owns their own house and has a good credit history. One company that kept sending me info was Amigo but as I didn't go down this route I'm sure there are plenty of other companies who offer the same that you could to choose from.

Please dont encourage people to involve others in their mess by asking someone to act as a guarantor.

Asking someone to risk their credit status or even their own home to get you out a pickle is a sellfish act IMO.

I'm not encouraging anything, I was just trying to be helpful to the OP and suggesting an alternative method of obtaining the money they required. Whether they go through with it is after looking through the facts is another matter.

I read these forums from time to time and I wonder if a lot of people just wait till some who is in financial difficulty asks for help obtaining a short term loan then they jump all over them. Take this thread for instance, a couple of posters have tried to help/offer guidance whilst the others have just critisied the OP for the situation they are in without knowing anything about them.

If you don't have anything constructive to say, don't say anything at all.
  • if OP isnt getting the relevant benefit then they need to apply for these now instead of letting pride hit their finances

    Tax Credits
    DLA
    Carers allowance

plus possibly Housing benefit and Council Tax credit

I haven't seen anyone criticising the OP for her situation. I think everyone is very sympathetic. However she really isn't going to get a loan (or at least not one with a low enough interest rate for repayment to be possible). Posting an SOA on the Debt Free Wannabe forum would be her best mood - she will gets loads of helpful advice there. None of which will involve taking on further debt.
