If you are in financial difficulty then a loan is the LAST thing that you need. Robbing Peter to pay Paul never works.
If you are in such a financial quagmire(giggety) that you cannot get a loan from normal high street lenders then the VERY VERY last thing that someone should be doing is going to high rate lenders like P2P or even the guarantor route.
They need proper financial advice in how to strip back to the core and also find out what other help may be afforded them through the benefits systems - especially if they have a disabled child living with them."If you no longer go for a gap, you are no longer a racing driver" - Ayrton Senna0 -

I read these forums from time to time and I wonder if a lot of people just wait till some who is in financial difficulty asks for help obtaining a short term loan then they jump all over them. Take this thread for instance, a couple of posters have tried to help/offer guidance whilst the others have just critisied the OP for the situation they are in without knowing anything about them.
If you don't have anything constructive to say, don't say anything at all.
My response was fair and constructive. Do not advise anyone to seek a guarantor to get them out their own financial mess. It's not fair on the person you are asking. You mess up again, the guarantor is left dealing with it.
Constructive advice is not always positive, although people dont like hearing it.0 -

As I said before I wasn't advising anyone, I was just highlighting a few options to the OP as they were clearly struggling.
It's all well and good saying cut back on your spending, get in touch with social services and try to get some tax credits, don't apply for that loan because the apr is ridiculously high but these won't actually help in the short term when mounting bills and debts need paying.
If you have any constructive advice for the OP to help get them out of the situation short term I'd like to hear it?0 -
And then some posters suggest offloading their entire financial burden onto some other poor soul who doesn't understand money either.
Encouraging guarantor loans is FAR from constructive advice. In fact it is downright nasty for the innocent victim (the guarantor).
I see you failed to read my first scentence of that post where I stated that I wasn't encouraging anything or was that intentional?0 -

My advice would be not to listen to your guarantor advice. Short term loans, PDL's for people who end up on here have not ended up a good read.
You have bad credit for a reason. Because you default on your loans etc. No reputable lender will risk giving you money if you have a bad history of repaying.
I don't encourage anyone to take a loan if they have bad credit as it will most probably end up a lot worse for them.0 -

My advice to you would be to read people's post in their entirety before going off at a tangent.
Just quoting what people should or shouldn't do in a ideal world won't help the OP get through their current difficult situation.0 -

And a guarantor loan will drag someone else into their future difficult situation.Space available for rent0 -
LittleArch - you ARE encouraging someone already in bad debt to simply take a short term fix and sod what happens in the future.
It is exactly your advice which brings people to this forum. They have done what you advise but soon find out what a horrific decision it was.
The majority are usually correct, you stand alone. Do the math.0 -

As I've said before I'm not ADVISING anyone to do anything, I said it was an option and an option is where someone has the right to choose. I never once advised them to do anything because I can't as I don't know their full situation. I also didn't get on my high horse and start telling them that no one would lend to them and it's their own fault for getting in a mess and having a bad credit rating.0
