Two weeks ago, I filled up my almost empty tank with diesel from Morrisons in Wolverhampton, and I immediately noticed my average mpg went down from 45mpg to 38mpg for my Mondeo Mk4 Estate - the first time it has ever been so low.
I normally use Shell or Esso, and have occasionally used Sainsbury's and Asda, but I shall never use Morrisons again."There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe a 'Princess Coronation' locomotive in full cry. We shall never see their like again". O S Nock0 -
My "local" (6 miles away) Tesco NEVER reduce their prices below their nearest Esso and Shell competition. That's my choice in the nearest town and they seem to operate a bit of a cartel. One drops the price then the other two theirs. One raises the price etc.
My nearest Asda and Morrisons are about 15 miles away each so I've really no choice.
As smurfy I try to avoid s/market fuel anyway and stick to Shell.0 -
Soylent Green is made out of people.
Crude oil comes from dead animals and vegetables.
Humans are animals.
Therefore oil can be made out of people.
We shouldn't be reducing world population. We need to produce more humans, and harvest them for oil. Lots of obese people in UK and USA, an untapped resource. It also means that we are not reliant on the Middle East. FREE laposuction!
So, wind, wave, solar, and now human fat. I have just solved our energy shortage. Nobel Prize please.0 -
Slight flaw in your plan, There is not enough food in the world for all the fat people you need to harvest.
What you need are people that get fat yet eat very little
Solve that then the prize is yours.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

Thats a similar situation to my nearest Tesco. I've been told that it's because when the Tesco was built the two petrol stations close by (Shell and Total I think) objected to the planning permission as it would affect their business. Permission was only granted as long as petrol prices stayed within so many pence of the two garages. Don't know how true that is but around here it's the reason people accept that the Tesco 10 minutes away is at least 5p a litre more expensive than the Tesco 20 minutes in the opposite direction.0 -

I haven't looked, but does MSE also publish an article every time the supermarket price goes up, which has happened more than once since the last article about a decrease?0

I was in a strange area (Wolverhampton is very strange) and asked when I was in a shop where the cheapest petrol was, and they pointed me to Morrisons. It's something I'll not fall for again.
Incidentally, today in Kidderminster I noticed Tesco has reduced it's price by 1p to 142.9 for diesel as against 143.9p at the nearest Esso."There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe a 'Princess Coronation' locomotive in full cry. Asda says this means motorists will pay no more than 135.7p per litre for unleaded and 139.7p per litre for diesel, regardless of where they live.
Another meaningless statement unless they're willing to say how long until prices will rise again.
Might be a week, might be a month. Any sniff of a disturbance in the oil rich Middle East countries and I bet they'd put the price up overnight.0 -
's funny how this comes out after 2 weeks of prices rises!0
